If you want to have a hands-on global impact on payment solutions, we want you to join our team as a Hardware Engineer. This is a full-time position based in our facility at CPI in Williston, South Carolina
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
As our Hardware Engineer, you will provide dedicated electrical engineering expertise for a team focused on delivering cost reduction projects and engineering production support for various CPI product lines. This position will involve concept development and validation, prototype preparation, and design activities to improve quality, value, and cost for CPI products. In addition, the engineer will cooperate with Quality, Production, and Supply Chain departments whenever design engineering support is required.
This role will be responsible for:
Analyzing and verifying alternate hardware designs and part sourcing opportunities and identify cost reduction opportunities
Generating schematics and perform detailed circuit analysis to verify design compliance to specific performance targets
Creating, simulating, prototyping, and implementing value engineering product redesigns
Managing projects and creating/tracking project plans for PCBA redesign, supplier transfer, cost reductions, and various other support projects
Developing detailed product design knowledge. This ongoing responsibility is required to provide timely production support and identify potential cost reduction opportunities
Creating production yield analysis and implementing design improvements to maintain quality
Participating in design reviews and design related brainstorming events
Traveling to manufacture, supplier, and customer sites as needed
Supporting activities within the global CPI Supply Chain Engineering team

Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering required
2-5 years of experience in electrical engineering and design
Must have experience in the design and development of digital and analogue electronics principles and design
Familiarity with design and biasing of bipolar transistors and MOSFETs in oscillator and closed loop opto control systems
Able to specify suitable opamp / comparator for specific functions without ever over specifying with cost disadvantage
Track record in power switching circuits including the specification of suitable power switches and flywheel diodes
Familiarity with resonant circuits based on opamp and comparitor building blocks
Some background in motor drive systems, perhaps in choice of brushless dc motors and drivers
Good awareness of optical and electromagnetic sensors and their functionality
General awareness of new technologies and their benefits
Able to use schematic capture (Cadstar, Mentor Graphics)
Able to demonstrate technical expertise and t4echnical delivery
Able to develop and manage a sub-project within the broader constraints of the overall project plan
Innovative and able to convert concepts into reality
Practical application of electronics design relating to EMC theory
Able to communicate, take part and contribute in technical discussions with other engineers and senior managers
Experience with multidisciplinary design teams and awareness of tradeoffs between electrical hardware, software, and mechanical solution approaches
Ability to perform and intercept tolerance analysis using worst case and statistical methods
Must be able to work with diverse teams spanning multiple sites as well as be able to work independently
Up to 10% travel
