Classification Description

Repairs , maintains , and inspects aircraft structures, systems, components, and related equipment under the technical direction of an Aircraft Mechanic, Aircraft Mechanic (Senior) or Lead. Removes and installs aircraft components. Conducts functional tests of repaired components and systems. Special certifications may be required. May be required to adjust, align, and rig aircraft systems. May be required to perform aircraft jacking, lifting, and towing operations. Inspects and identifies aircraft corrosion for prevention and repair. May be required to perform crash recovery duties. Required to perform assigned tasks within your work center that directly supports necessary functions of this job classification.

Specialty Qualifications

a. Knowledge. Knowledge of the principles applying to aircraft systems, concepts and applications of maintenance directives and data reporting, and using technical data is mandatory. Knowledge of Air Force supply and deficiency reporting procedures and the proper handling, use, and disposal of hazardous waste and materials is mandatory. Knowledge of MIS (CAMS/IMDS) and desktop computer operations and use is mandatory. Must have working knowledge of Air Force supply procedures to look up, place orders, receive and maintain parts and materials to complete assigned work.

b. Education. Completion of high school with courses in mathematics is desirable. Completion of a basic applicable aircraft maintenance course is mandatory.

c. Experience. Qualification as Aircraft Worker is mandatory. A minimum of three years of performing functions, such as installing, inspecting, repairing or overhauling aircraft structures, systems, and components, is mandatory.

Special Certifications and Qualifications required for position (as determined by Program Manager)

You must have held an Air Force or Sister Service Equivalent Jet engine AFSC. Preferred experience in JEIM shop for tear down and build-up of F100-PW-100 & 220 engines. Additional experience in F100-PW-229, F110-GE-129E, F110-GE-100 and F110-GE-129 is desired. Remove/install F-16/F-15 engines, be knowledgeable and able to remove and replace line replaceable units (LRU) and rig if required, ability to become borescope qualified, blade blend certified. Must have working knowledge of the Air Force Maintenance Information Systems (MIS). Must have been fully qualified as an engine test cell operator. Must be fully knowledgeable in all operations involved with Engine Test Cell including T-9, Hush House and Small Gas Section facilities and operations. SECRET CLEARANCE REQUIRED.
