OPS Chaplain – F/C –70930582

This advertisement is for an OPS (Other Personnel Services) position located at Martin Correctional Institution in the Chaplaincy Department.

Salary Rate: $21.00 per hour

SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY.

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plan, schedule, implement and coordinate supervision for Chaplaincy Services programs.

Provide pastoral care for inmates and staff.

Conduct worship services and religious education classes for inmates.

Oversight of the Certified Food Option Program

Process documentation and enter data into the CDC System related to administration of the Religious Diet Program.

Maintain records and submit reports to Central Office regarding chapel activities and the diet program.

Assist in supervising and administering the volunteer program at the institution.

Assist the Senior Chaplain in making visits to other areas of the institution as well as attending meetings as needed.

Prepares and conducts religious services for inmates or other individuals.

Interviews and counsels inmates on a variety of subject matters.

Coordinate activities of inmates, or other individuals.

Perform related work as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Ability to communicate effectively.

Ability to conduct a variety of religious services and activities.

Ability to counsel.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Ability to follow instructions, rules, and procedures.

Ability to plan, organize, coordinate work activities.

Ability to provide counseling or guidance to others.

Ability to work with inmates.

Ability to conduct fact finding interviews.

Knowledge of computer software.

Knowledge of counseling and interviewing techniques.

Knowledge of theological theories, philosophies, and systems.

Knowledge of theology, religion, or one of the social or behavioral sciences.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.

Must possess one year of professional experience as a clergyperson.

Must be ordained.

Must possess a current written approbation or endorsement by the appropriate official of the ecclesiastical body.
