Job Summary
This position provides direct system support to the Controller’s Office, Office of Fiscal Planning & Analysis, Procurement and Human Resources. This position serves as a shared technical and functional resource for operational support areas within the Financial/Human Capital Management enterprise software system. The primary functions include resolving production issues timely, serving as a member on the project team for system projects, and helping to provide efficiency in system needs and business processes.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Build advanced ad hoc queries and train operational users on query report writing within the Peoplesoft systems.
Assists with day to day questions, concerns, and support needs from operational users.
Provides maintenance, testing, and upgrade support for operational support databases.
Assists other Business Analysts with various projects and assignments as needed. Including but not limited to, writing specifications for new technical requests as it relates to system support.
Compiles, updates, and maintains proper documentation and desktop manuals; as well as, creating and managing Canvas training classes and maintaining websites for support areas.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in business, accounting, computing, or other related field, from an accredited college or university. Four years related experience in a business, accounting, computing information technology area related to the duties to be performed.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.
Knowledge of SQL tables, views & joins, programming concepts and functional perspectives as it relates to system support.
Proficient oral/written communication skills to effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or boards of directors. In addition to responding to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.
Ability to think critically to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Advanced Microsoft Office skills and basic functional accounting knowledge.
Ability to take strong initiative toward accomplishing results; exercise judgement; work independently and in a team environment; analyze, plan, organize, and deliver projects on schedule.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in developing business requirements, test plans, and implementing software systems. Education and/or experience in CIS or MIS is preferred but not required. Basic knowledge of programming concepts and the ability to apply programming logic to assist in problem solving.
