This position is for a Carpenter with a company in Hattiesburg, MS.
Summary: To provide efficient, safe customer service to all sites to support an environment conducive to learning.
Duties and Responsibilities: Repairs and replaces windows, doors and building hardware throughout the school district. Repairs and maintains locks, door closers, panic hardware and window opening mechanisms. Constructs, repairs and maintains tables, cabinets, counters and flooring. Repairs, replaces and maintains acoustical ceilings, covered walkways and blinds. Protects and maintains tools and equipment. Follows safety codes and regulations. Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance. Supports the Hattiesburg Public School District Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan. Performs other duties as assigned.
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the Board of Trustees.
Education and Experience: High School Graduate. Trade School Graduate desirable. Knowledge of the standard practices, methods, materials and tools of the carpenter trade. Knowledge of properties, uses and adaptabilities of different kinds of woods and other building materials. Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions of the trade. Skilled in the use of tools, materials, and equipment of the trade. Skilled in operating hand saw, planer, jointer, shaper, table saw, wood lathe, drill press, sanding machine, router, electric drill and other tools and equipment of the trade. Ability to work from specifications and blueprints. Ability to climb ladders, build and climb scaffolds and work from either. Working knowledge of door closure devices and panic-bars. Working knowledge of locksmith operations; key-way systems and diagnostics; ability to operate duplicate key machine, re-key locks and troubleshoot malfunctioning hardware. Ability to drive and operate a motor vehicle with a trailer. Ability to get along with people. Valid Mississippi drivers license.
