7:45 a.m. — 4:45 p.m.
1 Hr. unpaid lunch
Comp time as needed
Responsibilities:

– Assist in monitoring interior and exterior of the Municipal Court, metal detector, security monitors, and conduct searches of individuals
– Routine “search” of Court premises
– Ensure personal safety of the Judge and Court personnel
– Maintain order and safety in the Courthouse and Courtroom during arraignment sessions, trials and civil matters, including escorting witnesses, jurors, defendants, victims, and general public
– Professionally responds to difficult or hostile visitors to the Court.
– Serve the Court in all emergencies
– Serve Court papers, writs and subpoenas as directed and enforce Court procedures
– Do immobilizations for defendants as ordered by the Court
– Secure all rooms at the close of proceedings or the end of the work day
– Maintain equipment used by the Court and Probation staff including car and cameras; coordinate and perform periodic “tests” of security system
– Maintain strict trust and confidant to the Judge. At all times, exercises discretion and sound judgment regarding the Courts dignity and image. Act as a role model both inside and outside the Court.
– Regularly and punctually reports to work during Court hours; on call and available after hours.
– Other duties as assigned by the Court Administrator or Judge

Work Experience Requirements:

– Certification, skill and proficiency in the use of a firearm
– OPOTA and/or Bailiff certification preferred and/or required
– Previous work / law enforcement experience preferred
– Experience or some knowledge in Court proceedings, security measures, firearm safety, legal processes, and office procedures
– Ability to respond appropriately to all emergency situations
– While performing duties of this job, must be able to cope with stressful emergency situations and deal with aggressive and agitated persons
– No criminal record
– Valid Drivers License
