Job summary: 

Maintenance supports various key objectives. One of the key roles of maintenance in food production is to keep processes going without unplanned downtime.  Product safety is an even higher priority. Food manufacturers need to be certain that everything they produce is completely unspoiled and free of harmful contaminants. Keeping production line equipment in good condition helps prevent contamination while making sure products come off the line properly prepared for consumption. Maintenance Technicians help keep machines in a state that complies with federal standards, such as Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Additionally, maintain facility and production equipment in accordance to manufacture standards and/or building codes while focusing on food safety and product quality (as dictated by the standards of SQF).

 

Summary of essential job responsibilities:

– Maintaining food production equipment that it is often used as part of a continuous process.
– Performing inspections and/or routine maintenance.
– Careful planning and strict LOTO procedures are crucial.
– Notify Team Leader of equipment malfunctions.
– Initiative to correct or adjust malfunctioning equipment.
– Adhere to the companys Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and the general food safety and compliance principles of SQF standards.
– Participate/support the SQF program and assist in the development of the system and operational standards and corrective actions.
– Adhere to established company policies and procedures regarding plant safety such as LOTO, PPE, and machine guarding.
– Perform other related duties as assigned, alerting managers of idle time.

Knowledge/ Experience/ Skills Qualifications

– Electrical knowledge.
– Plumbing knowledge.
– Minimal fabrication knowledge.
– Strong tow motor operations.
– Strong work ethic to work both independently and within a team environment.
– Building maintenance repairs.
– Assist with identifying and correcting safety hazards.
– Strong mathematical aptitude, reading, comprehension, and verbal communication skills.
– Flexibility in shift scheduling
– Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
– Knowledge of preventative maintenance practices, and ability to adhere to company standards.
– Ability to maintain equipment to factory standards.
– Must be able to consider alternate methods to accomplish machines running until factory standards can be met.
– Must be independent and reliable. Entire shift may rely on your ability to keep machines running.
