Essential functions (job duties):
The Program Coordinator of the Student Engagement and Active Learning (SEAL) Lab will play a pivotal role in supporting the Associate Dean in the creation, implementation, and evaluation of programming aimed at enhancing the academic and professional readiness of students. This position will be a liaison between students and the different services available at the Lab. The Program Coordinator will be familiar with Student Services available at the (MISB) as well as Wayne State University and direct students about how to access these resources. The Program Coordinator will support student success and monitor the progress of services available through SEAL. This individual will maintain an inventory of SEAL services for student engagement such as tutoring, workshops, first-generation student support, and external certifications.
Act as a point of contact to for student inquiries, provide resources for routine matters.
Provide administrative support coordination between SEAL Lab and University Resources.
Care about student success, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Assist the Associate Dean in designing, developing, and evaluating comprehensive programs that support the academic and professional growth of Ilitch Business students.
Collaborate on the development of workshops, seminars, and events that address the unique challenges and opportunities for Ilitch Business students.
Optimize functionality of services and resources available through the SEAL Lab.
Maintain and expand an inventory of services available through the SEAL Lab.
Compile datarelated to program participation, student outcomes, and other relevant metrics.
Provide input into on continuous improvement of program offerings.
Track both in-person and virtual engagement with the SEAL Lab.
Collect and analyze data about the utilization and outcomes of SEAL Lab services.
Plan, organize, and execute various events, including workshops, conferences, and networking sessions.
Develop relationships with partners engaged with the SEAL Lab.
Act as a resource to build and maintain relationships with community organizations, corporate partners, and other external stakeholders to support program goals.
Engage with internal stakeholders, including faculty, staff, and university departments, to foster a supportive environment for students.
Respond to various requests as they occur.
Qualifications:
Desirable education and experience:
Bachelor’s degree preferred in Business Administration, Counseling, Education, or a related field.
One to three years of similar or related experience, preferably at Wayne State University.
Familiarity with Wayne State University systems such as Academica, Banner and STARS.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience working with technical tools including Office Suite, cloud-based tools and social media platforms.
Ability to work in a diverse, collaborative, in-person academic environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Demonstrated experience in program development, student advising, and stakeholder engagement.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data to inform decision-making.
Experience managing events and overseeing projects from inception to completion.
Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a focus on supporting multicultural student populations.
Knowledge of Business degrees, core courses, and employment skills
Supervisory experience includes managing students, assessing performance, performance feedback, and coaching.
Knowledge of current practices of career counseling and student services.
Ability to establish genuine relationships with individuals, be helpful by providing exceptional service, influence, and sustain positive relationships.
Excellent oral and written skills, along with exceptional public speaking skills. Ability to transfer knowledge to a diverse audience.
A broad knowledge of diversity dimensions. The ability to serve and engage others to achieve the best possible outcome for the students and the community.
Understanding higher education admissions policy and practices and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
Preferred qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree preferred in Business Administration, Counseling, Education, or a related field.
