## Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Simulation and Clinical Innovation, the Simulation Education Specialist will help facilitate the associated simulations or skills activities. This role will help establish an open skills practice time and also be able to assist with remediations or additional practice at the request of faculty or students for all courses. It will ensure that all courses have consistency and quality within their simulation-based experiences.

The Simulation Education Specialist will facilitate concept and skill mapping across both accelerated and traditional programs and help with the move to competency-based learning within the nursing programs.

This is a part-time (20 hours per week) position with an annual salary range of $33,450.00 to $41,800.00.

## Responsibilities

– Facilitate concept and skill mapping across both accelerated and traditional programs as well as support the move to competency-based learning within the nursing programs.
– Meet with students to foster academic success (assist with critical-thinking, clinical skills, and reasoning).
– Help plan student events (e.g., summer camps, open hourses, tours)
– Coordinate with faculty, staff, other departments and the school to facilitate student success.
– Analyze student performance indicators.
– Work with the Student Success Coordinator to ensure integration of an individualized success plan into remedation activities.
– Work early mornings, late evenings, and some weekends may be required.
– Can lift, pull or push up to 80 lbs.

## Required Qualifications

– Bachelors degree in Nursing or related health field
– Three or more years of clinical experience in acute patient care (critical care) and/or emergency or trauma conditions
– Three or more years of teaching experience (academia and/or practice)
– Knowledge of human pathophysiology
– Current unencumbered Michigan Registered Nurse License
– Work faculty, staff and students (current and prospective) in a positive and respectful manner; be a team player
– Work in a multicultural settings and a demonstrated commitment to diversity
– Proficient in Microsoft and Google suites
– Must be able to perform all physical aspects of the job with or without reasonable accommodations – Can lift, pull or push up to 80 lbs.

## Desired Qualifications

– Masters Degree
– One or more years of experience in simulation operations training
– Instructional experience in a baccalaureate (or higher degree) nursing program to include both didactic and clinical teaching
– 2 or more years of experience in simulation operations
– BLS instructor certification, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification or instructor status.
– Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) or Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) preferred upon hire (obtained within 1 year of hire)
– Commitment and patterns of success in working with non-traditional learners
