This plan enables Intermountain Health to provide leaders with an additional performance compensation opportunity. The AP4P opportunities are calculated as a percentage of your base salary. Awards are paid out based on attainment of selected Intermountain Health Board-approved goals.

The Director of Mission Integration and Spiritual Care is accountable for promoting integration of faith, spirituality, and mission identity, along with leadership and direction for spiritual care teams, clinical and organizational ethics, ministry formation, and care site mission councils. They will implement system mission initiatives and serve as a liaison between faith communities and the hospital.

As the Director of Mission Integration and Spiritual Care, you will:

Serve in a leadership role within the Montana/Wyoming market of Intermountain Health, offering specialized mission expertise to hospitals, physician clinics and the broader community, ensuring best practices and consistency of all key functional areas within Spiritual Care and Mission Integration.

Serve as the subject matter expert in Mission, core values and heritage and collaborate with other local and market leaders to ensure their application to policies & practices.

Foster a culture that encourages pride and ownership in the Mission.

Help provide meaning and purpose to the work of each employee, supports employee wellness and employment engagement and retention initiatives.

Maintain responsibility for the formation of care site managers and caregivers, including initial orientation and ongoing formation programs in Mission.

Ensure awareness of, and compliance with, the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Healthcare Services within the hospital and associated medical group.

Serve in a leadership role with the MT/WY Market Ethics committee, identifying ethics concerns and facilitating ethics consults for patients, residents and family throughout the market, including call rotation as the market ethics lead.

Facilitate Mission Due Diligence and Values Based Discernment processes at the local care site and throughout the market as determined by the VP of Mission.

Direct, develop, and manage caregivers who report through Mission Integration & Spiritual Care to ensure effective stewardship of all resources and achievement of personal, departmental and organizational goals.

Deliver direct spiritual care to patients, families and caregivers in the hospital and other locations which may include physician clinics, residential living and home hospice settings.

Respond to crisis situations (e.g. resuscitations, trauma, rapid response, death, BEST and Security alerts, etc.) to provide spiritual care and support, including pager coverage to meet the needs of the care-site.

Develop, implement, and document spiritual assessment, interventions, and outcomes and participates as a member of interdisciplinary teams to provide whole person care.

A qualified candidate will have:

A Master’s Degree, preferably in theology or pastoral ministry or a related field with a working knowledge of clinical hospital operations

Working knowledge of health care ethics and the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services (ERDs)

A demonstrated familiarity with a diversity of spiritualities; the knowledge and ability to work effectively within the framework of the Catholic Church.

Strong preference is for an active Catholic; exceptions include only candidates supportive of the Catholic heritage and practices with experience in Catholic healthcare.

3 years relevant experience in healthcare chaplaincy/spiritual care, mission integration, healthcare or related faith-based setting required.

Completion of 1 or more units of Accredited Clinical Pastoral Education.

Preferred Qualifications are:

5 years relevant experience in healthcare chaplaincy/spiritual care, healthcare or related faith-based setting

Board Certification with Clinical Pastoral Education (NACC or APC)

Demonstrated ability to function as a credible and integral member of both senior leadership teams and interdisciplinary teams.

Demonstrated ability to lead clinical ethics, spiritual care, and formation programs Graduate level writing and speaking, ability to manage and lead a department, relate effectively with people of all religious, spiritual and ethnic backgrounds, ability to relate with other healthcare leaders, boards and community clergy, integrate theological, ethical and relationship matters in Spiritual Care and Mission Integration

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$33.01 – $50.97
