Overview
The Gift Shop Senior Associate will be results driven and assist the Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the Gift Shop to help ensure smooth operations and maximize sales and minimize costs. They will enhance customer satisfaction, and assist management in training staff & volunteers in the Gift Shop Operations. These duties will include but are not limited to sales, labeling, assistance with inventory control, and merchandising. This position has significant impact in serving the customer and sales.

Responsibilities
Senior Associate assists management in overseeing the daily operations of the Gift Shop:
Maintains a sales presence
Ensures the store in well merchandised, clean and well organized
Performs Shop functions including opening/closing procedures as well as operating all functions of the cash register
Works with Gift Shop Leadership Team to effectively market Gift Shop to drive sales success, coordinates and promotes sales and other events
Summarizes weekly report of merchandise needing to be reordered
Responsible for assisting Retail Inventory Manager for ordering and maintaining select product lines
– Inputs merchandise into Gift Logic POS system, coordinates with KS Gift Shop to ensure pricing coincides with AH merchandise
Receives and checks in merchandise, unpacks items checking to make sure merchandise is not damaged
Checks all items in shop to evaluate stocking needs, continually restocks Gift Shop as needed
Works with the Manager to appropriately train associates and volunteers:
Engages volunteers and staff in the organization of store operations and allocates responsibilities. Provides guidance, supervision and training for staff and volunteers to maximize performance
Reviews the “State of the Gift Shop” weekly news with volunteers upon the start of the volunteer shift
Maintains a list of all volunteer birthdays and sends greetings via email
Assists staff and volunteers in problem solving and conflict resolution with customers
Assists with marketing and merchandising the Gift Shop to drive sales success
Assists in the planning and execution of in-store promotional events and displays
Walks the sales floor regularly, talking to colleagues, customers and identifying needs and wants
Responsible for working with Retail Inventory Manager to execute a merchandising plan for the sales floor
Identifies strategies to best promote new merchandise
Collaborates with Retail Inventory Manager to identify slow sellers and merchandise which needs to be marked down. Strategizes on placement of sale merchandise
Assists Manager with promotion of logo sales to off-site locations and reconciling the inventory and sales
Responsible for managing all logo request transfers:
Processes all logo transfer requests from AH to KS Gift Shops
Processes all logo transfer requests to CM off-site locations
Maintains a log book of all transfer transactions
Responsible for investigating problems with logo transfers. Identifies potential problems with the process and makes recommendations to Leadership Team for improvement
Qualifications
Associates Degree and 3-5 years experience or
High School diploma, or equivalent, and 5-7 years experience

Starting Pay
Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $19.23/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.
Remote Work/Work from Home
This position is not eligible to work remotely, which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Children’s Mercy locations and may not work from home.
