Process Line Operator tends equipment that chemically cleans oil, grease, dirt, and other foreign matter from parts/metal objects.

Job Summary

Removes oil, grease, dirt, and mil markings from material

Loads objects in baskets on conveyor that carries them through series of chemical and rinsing baths, or places objects on racks or in containers and immerses objects in chemical and rinsing solutions

Moves control to start conveyor and to regulate conveyor speed

Maintains consistency of cleaning solutions by adding specified amount of chemical to solutions

Drains, cleans, and refills tanks with chemicals.

Dries objects

Examines cleaned objects to ensure conformance to standards

Responsible for the proper storage of hazardous wastes within the process line department and collection of hazardous wastes from other departments, including transportation to the hazardous waste storage shed

Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area

Accurately records required information in customer required log books

Other duties as assigned

Skills & Qualifications

Qualifications & Requirements

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mylars

Ability to operate a forklift and overhead crane

Must be able to comply with specific safety policies

Read and understand internal procedures and policies

Understand and follow through on both verbal, written instructions and communicate effectively

Team oriented with a continuous improvement outlook

Basic Computer Skills – able to learn new screens, reports, functions and simple software programs with assistance

Required Experience/Education/Training/Certifications

High School Diploma; up to 3 years related experience in job function and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience

Math Skills – decimals, percentages, fractions, ratios, proportions; geometry and trigonometry is a plus

Basic Computer Skills – able to learn new screens, reports, functions and simple software programs with assistance

Work Environment and Safety Equipment Required

Responsible for the proper storage of hazardous wastes within the process line department and collection of hazardous wastes from other departments, including transportation to the hazardous waste storage shed

Knowledge of policy and procedures in the event of a hazardous waste release, fire or explosion

Knowledge of the chemical characteristics and location of hazardous waste in the facility

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

Annual pulmonary test is required

Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms

Frequently required to stoop, kneel, or crouch

Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Working conditions are: 100% manufacturing environment

Regularly required to work near moving mechanical parts

Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals

Occasionally exposed to extreme cold, extreme heat

Noise level is usually moderate

Face shield must be worn when operating process line

Safety glasses (ANSI Z87 compliant) required in all manufacturing areas

Hearing protection must be worn in designated areas

Safety Footwear shall be in accordance with the following: ASTM standard F2413-05 with minimum impact resistance, compression resistance and metatarsal designation ratings of 75 foot pounds (i.e. ASTM F2413-05 I/75 C/75 Mt/75), which are viewable on the inside tag of footwear
