Chem Mill Operator tends equipment that chemically cleans oil, grease, dirt, and other foreign matter from parts/metal objects as well as chemically milling of part(s).

Job Summary
Removes oil, grease, dirt, and mil markings from material.
Loads objects in baskets on conveyor that carries them through series of chemical and rinsing baths, or places objects on racks or in containers and immerses objects in chemical and rinsing solutions.
Moves control to start conveyor and to regulate conveyor speed.
Maintains consistency of cleaning solutions by adding specified amount of chemical to solutions.
Drains, cleans, and refills tanks with chemicals. Dries objects.
Examines cleaned objects to ensure conformance to standards.
Measures parts and part thickness.
Hangs parts and sprays with maskant.
Ability to use a die grinder.
Scribes parts to meet work order and customer specifications.
Performs chemical milling operations.
Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area.
Accurately records required information in customer required log books.
Other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
Qualifications & Requirements
Ability to use measuring instruments including but not limited to calipers, micrometers, and ultra sonic gauge.
Ability to operate a forklift.
Ability to operate an overhead crane.
Must be able to comply with specific safety policies
Read and understand internal procedures and policies
Understand and follow through on both verbal and written instructions
Team oriented with a continuous improvement outlook
Basic Computer Skills – able to learn new screens, reports, functions and simple software programs with assistance
Required Experience/Education/Training/Certifications
High School Diploma; up to 3 years related experience in job function and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience
Math Skills – decimals, percentages, fractions, ratios, proportions; geometry and trigonometry is a plus
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mylars
Basic Computer Skills – able to learn new screens, reports, functions and simple software programs with assistance
Work Environment and Safety Equipment Required
Employee is responsible for placing hazardous waste in the proper container, ensuring the containers are kept closed when not in use, and report any spills immediately
Responsible for the proper storage of hazardous wastes within the process line department and collection of hazardous wastes from other departments, including transportation to the hazardous waste storage shed.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Annual pulmonary test is required.
Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms.
Frequently required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.
Must be able to communicate effectively.
Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Working conditions are: 100% manufacturing environment.
Regularly required to work near moving mechanical parts.
Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
Occasionally exposed to extreme cold, extreme heat.
Noise level is usually moderate.
Face shield must be worn when operating process line.
Safety glasses (ANSI Z87 compliant) required in all manufacturing areas.
Hearing protection must be worn in designated areas.
Safety Footwear shall be in accordance with the following: ASTM standard F2413-05 with minimum impact resistance, compression resistance and metatarsal designation ratings of 75 foot pounds (i.e. ASTM F2413-05 I/75 C/75 Mt/75), which are viewable on the inside tag of footwear.
