Job Summary
The primary functions of the Student Account Advisor position include but, are not limited to, leading and training our front line staff and student workers, handling any escalations in person or via email, providing back office support in moving payments, removing holds, and managing other requests from our accounting department. In addition, this position contributes to the success of the Office of Student Accounts by providing leadership to advance the delivery of excellent customer service within the Office of Student Accounts toward the campus community. The Student Account Advisor must be able to work with confidence, consistent accuracy, and independence. This role requires an individual who exemplifies leadership, but also excels in a fast past environment without compromising the level on service provided to all customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Serves as the primary troubleshooter for issues ranging from simple to complex ensuring the campus community’s needs are met.
Provide training to all new staff while being a subject matter expert for reference.
Act as liaison between front line and Student Accounts Management.
Cashiering functions:
Provide professional, comprehensive, efficient, and courteous customer service.
Ensure front line staff balance cash drawers daily, remove student account holds, process departmental loans, analyze charges and payments, oversee refund process and validate using reports, assist with third party billing, process change orders, post payments and assist with and/or process all incoming mail.
Responsible for researching credit card chargeback inquires
Process all interim deposits and cash replenishments.
Lead campus marketing efforts to provide students with information about the student accounts office.
Deliver information about our services at New Maverick Orientation.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with two (2) years related experience or six (6) years related work experience.
Must have excellent customer service, leadership, and cash management experience.
Experience assisting customers by email and/or in person.
Preferred Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or accounting.
Three (3) years related experience. Higher
Education experience.
Banking or financial institution experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Proven leadership skills.
Ability to multi-task and excel in a fast-paced environment.
Comfortable with public speaking.
Computer skills: Microsoft Office suite, data entry and basic math skills.
