Northrop Grumman is seeking a Manager Logistics Materials 1 to support United States Air Force (USAF) Battlefield Airborne Communications Node (BACN) E-11A aircraft (Bombardier Global 6000 Commercial Derivative Aircraft) and associated operations. This modified aircraft enables a high-altitude, airborne communications gateway that translates and distributes imagery, voice and tactical data from disparate elements — enhancing situational awareness and enabling seamless interoperability for joint and coalition forces operating across air, space, land and sea.
Highly desired for position to be on site at our Middle River, Maryland facility (consideration for periodic visits to this site during month). Manager responsibilities will require direct engagement with Global Supply Chain (GSC) team, BACN program Management Office and other cross-functional teams to successfully support 24-hour flight operations at home and abroad. Candidate must be able to lead a diverse group of people and skillsets as well as influence others outside of his/her specific area of responsibility. Furthermore, this position is forward facing to USAF customers and requires direct communications with them on all logistics matters including management of Government Furnished Equipment, inventory controls and reporting, as well as keeping them informed on pertinent aspects of program. As part of Global Supply Chain function, our team executes in a fast-paced, high operational tempo work environment to mission critical requirements, significantly diverse assignments, and collaboration and communication across all levels within Northrop Grumman.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Establish Material Operations Strategy to be implemented by Material Operations Management Team
Manage import and export of materials to and from OCONUS locations
Coordinate with Host Nation Customs and overseas business partners to ensure on time delivery of materials
Drive overall material health, material schedule, and accurately forecast costs by using statistical planning models to forecast material demand for sites.
Create and manage Request for Purchase Requisitions (RPRs) for materials moving through NGC GSC and prepare material status briefings for Air Force leadership and NGC leadership
Manage and execute disposition of Aircraft on Ground (AoG) materials tracking from request to receipt
Drive continuous improvement, and affordability initiatives within program.
Manage and communicate material risks and opportunities with internal and external customers
Ultimately responsible for inventory control, ensuring stock levels are maintained at an appropriate level by coordinating efficient movement of materials with Global Supply Chain and logistics personnel at Main Operating Base (MOB) and Forward Operating Locations (FOLs).
As required, travel to CONUS & OCONUS Operating locations (up to approx. 25% of time annually)
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with 5 years’ related experience or a Associates Degree with a 7 years’ related experience, or a High School diploma / equivalent with 9 years’ experience may be considered in lieu of degree
Demonstrated success in leading teams or projects with a minimum of 5 years of directly managing people
Demonstrated success in continuous process improvement initiatives
Demonstrated ability to analyze data and identify trends
Must be proficient in SAP
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
US citizen and ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
Passport is required for this position
Ability to lift up to 50lbs
Preferred Qualifications:
Import and Export experience
In depth knowledge of USAF Instructions and Technical Orders
Demonstrated success in supporting 24-hour flight operations
In depth knowledge of material management in a depot or production environment
Skill in program proposals to meet customer requirements
Experience in communication, both written and verbal, with customers and senior management
Skill in Corridor Inventory database
Salary Range: $90,700 – $136,100
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
