Responsible to provide direct patient care, identifies and meets patient needs under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. Graduate from a Surgical Technology Program
2. Must be certified surgical technologist (ORT)
3. Must have CPR certification within 90 days of hire
EXPERIENCE:
1. Working knowledge of planning perioperative patient care and transporting the perioperative patient.
2. Five years scrub experience
3. Designed, implemented, and educated staff on two or more in-services

1. Performs technical skills required to prepare for surgical procedures. Assists other perioperative team members in the care of the surgical patient.
2. Prepares sterile filed according to policy.
3. Demonstrates knowledge of sterile draping.
4. Maintains correct sharps, sponges, and instrument count according to policy.
5. Maintains aseptic technique according to standard.
6. Assists and anticipates the needs of the surgeon.
7. Assists in maintenance and care of specimens according to policy.
8. Follows OSHA and Universal Precautions as per standard.
9. Sets up using Aseptic Technique.
10. Maintains working knowledge of case cart system and on call responsibilities.
11. Obtain and label physician ordered medications for use on the sterile field under the direct supervision of the RN.
12. Transportation of patient/equipment/supplies.

2. Must be able to lift, move and position patients of all weights, with varying amounts of assistance in a fair manner on a regular and recurring basis.
3. Must be able to read and write legibly in English.
4. Hearing within normal range is required (ie., to assess breath sounds, bowel sounds, apical pulse, monitors, etc.)
