Electrification & Automation

The Electrification & Automation (E&A) Business Unit offers the full range of energy distribution systems and solutions for all markets and through all sales channels. We provide reliable power distribution grids of today while investing in our Future Grids portfolio to create the power distribution grid of the future.

We are looking for a Factory Project Manager. This position will be Onsite in Wendell, NC.

The Factory Project Manager will report into the Wendell NC Operational Excellence (Work Team) which is responsible for operational process planning and implementation of key strategic manufacturing improvements within the Siemens Wendell NC factory to achieve start-up, stabilization, and growth of electromechanical assembly operations. This role will report directly to the Wendell Factory Operational Excellence Manager, on a team consisting of Manufacturing (Industrial) Engineers. This role will work closely with the knowledgeable M.E. for the technical specifics of each project. This Project Manager role is NOT an IT Project Manager, although factory digitalization will be a major focus.

You’ll make an impact by:

Developing business plans that define the benefit, costs, schedule, scope, and risks of a project

Executing projects within the defined requirements (e.g., budget, time, functionality)

Ensuring the benefits as stated in the business case can be achieved – this is typically quality levels, capacity output, delivery timeliness, and financial realization of benefit (ROI)

Ensuring timely decisions on open issues, identification of risks, escalating if necessary.

Preserving and potentially improving, the return on investment initially established by the first phases of the project by synergizing and learning through the implementation.

Providing stakeholders insight and feedback throughout the project lifecycle

Drive process improvements aligned with desired stakeholder outcomes

Lead multidisciplinary teams to implement strategic changes in plant-level physical and digital processes, from order configuration to production and delivery.

Success measured by the successful start-up, integration, and sustained use of new processes in a complex manufacturing environment.

Support the start-up of new assembly lines at the Wendell Factory.

Drive dock-to-dock material flow and logistics optimization projects.

Digitalization Champion Responsibilities:

Leverage Siemens’ digital tools to solve day-to-day operational challenges.

Drive system enhancements and develop new solutions with other subject matter experts (SMEs).

Interface closely with the SI EA Business Excellence team to intake opportunities for toolset changes or expansions.

Identify digitalization opportunities and facilitate the development of solutions through appropriate resources (without performing the development work personally).

Appling project management methodology and processes

The ability to work effectively with all facets of the organization from design to manufacturing

Leveraging problem solving and influencing skills to ensure project plans deliver on intent

Be a trusted change advisor to business stakeholders to understand complex problems and resolve them through the appropriate channels

Analyze, identify, and correct data issues within various systems and applications

Providing diligent and transparent project status reports and communicating to senior leadership

Refining project scope, goals, and deliverables

Monitoring & predicting project performance to ensure achievement of approved timeline at planned milestones, manage the project team(s), manage budget performance, and manage resources

Utilizing skills to ask questions to open dialog, check assumptions, and resolve conflicts. Identify risks involved in the project and provide mitigation direction

Driving a high-performance ownership culture

You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

2 years Project Management (PM) experience (scheduling, budgeting, resourcing, prioritizing, risk identification and mitigation)

2 years Manufacturing and/or Supply Chain experience

Experience with Salesforce.com

Intermediate-level experience with SAP

PMI certification or begin cert path within first three months of start date

Experience with Lean material flow principles

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Relationship building including motivating multidisciplinary teams

High proficiency in PM and communication tools (Excel, MS Project)

Ability to work autonomously without constant supervision

Ability to prepare business cases and justification for high-cost and high-effort initiatives

Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship

  Preferred Qualifications:

Prefer experience in the electrical apparatus / power distribution and control industry

Lean, Agile, or Six Sigma certification

Heavy manufacturing experience

Experience in process diagraming using MS Visio or similar tools

The pay range for this position is $72,380 – $124,080. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
