Planning Technician

The duties listed below are not all of the duties that may be assigned but are those that are considered as essential for an employee to perform.
– Assists Planning and Zoning Director with coordination of GCaMP presenters, set-up and break down of meetings.
– Reviews and issues over-the-counter zoning permits (anything that does not require a full site plan review).
– Researches and compiles information on a variety of planning and zoning-related topics.
– Prepares the following for all Planning Board and Board of Adjustment meetings: agendas, minutes, public notices, legal ads, attendance records for the Clerks Office.
– Attends Planning Board and Board of Adjustment meetings and assists planners as needed.
– Performs routine office tasks including but not limited to taking calls and working with customers to help them through the zoning permit, rezoning, and variance process, scheduling zoning-related inspections.
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation with a High School Diploma or GED equivalency with at least one (1) year of experience in plan review, zoning permit issuance, building permit issuance, or a related-field required.
Must be willing/able to obtain North Carolina Association of Zoning Officals (NCAZO) certification within two years of hire date.
