We currently operate six high-tech greenhouse farms, with four new regional salad greenhouse hubs breaking ground to begin opening in 2024. BrightFarms fresh lettuce options, from classic greens to crunchy mixes and salad kits, are available in more than 3,700 retail stores across the East Coast and Midwest.
The Food Safety and Quality team at BrightFarms is hiring a Food Safety and Quality Manager at ourNEW Macon, Georgiagreenhouse to lead the implementation of our food safety programs at the farm.
Specifically, you will:
– Effectively and efficiently manage production processes to ensure world class food safety standards
– Promote a food safety culture at the farm
– Manage and Collect routine EMP samples (water samples, swabs, product samples and media samples)
– Train and manage the Quality Management System with day-to-day operations of the greenhouse
– Oversee the sites pest control management system and conduct regular reviews
– Lead SQF site audits, internal audits, regulatory inspections and GMP inspections
– Manage sites supplier approval program
– Conduct root cause investigations and implement corrective actions necessary to ensure safe and quality product is produced
– Perform food safety hazard analysis, update food safety plans, and participate in change management activities
– Standardize best practices and creates forms necessary to collect KPIs
– Maintain the digital food safety record keeping system, review records
– Be proficient in effectively communicating with employees throughout the organization
– Willingness and desire to assist in unrelated and/or unassigned tasks to ensure the effective operation of the Greenhouse
– Report food safety and quality problems to the GM or directly to Senior Management
– Complete other duties as assigned
The ideal candidate:
– Have a 4-year degree in a related discipline
– Have 4 – 8 years of related work experience in food safety and quality. Agricultural experience is a plus!
– Experience with GFSI auditing programs or FSMA regulations
– Excellent written and verbal communication and can create documents such as standard operating procedures, training content, and work instructions that comply with applicable food regulations
– Exhibit excellent critical thinking skills, leadership skills, lead by example – set the highest possible standards for food safety, quality, efficiency, productivity, and behavior
– Be detail oriented and data driven
– Be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point. PowerBI is a plus!
– Have the ability to meet the physical requirements of the job including lifting up to 50 pounds
– Be a self-starter and a problem solver with strong relationship building and communication skills
– Ability to navigate a dynamic and quickly evolving environment
– Collaborate and work closely with the operations team
– Be a problem solver
