Operations Team Leader
The Operations Team Leader is responsible for effectively managing production activities for a specific area of focus of the Focus Factory and developing collaborative partnerships with Colgate colleagues. This person must be able to deliver agreed business results while maintaining positive employee relations. The primary responsibilities of the role include department start up, shut down, daily production schedule adherence, customer service, area financial performance, quality, microbiology, EHS, labor relations, people and team development. This key player works within a structure that requires considerable work with Planning, Quality Production and Warehousing. This role will guide and empower teams in the strategies of Category Supply Chain.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Manages the people, materials and equipment by active presence on the shop floor to achieve the production schedule and deliver area metrics.
Accountable for Operational Excellence initiatives (EOHS, Quality, FP&R) activities of the production area to deliver high levels of service to internal and external customers
Support Environmental Occupational Health and Safety (EOHS) initiatives to improve Total Recordable Records (TRR) and Lost Work Case Rate (LWCR) metrics while supporting near misses and accident Investigations.
Support Quality initiatives to have improvements with Micro Performance Indicator (MPI) and Non Conformances metrics, and perform NCF failure investigations.
Support the implementation of the standards of Plant Performance & Reliability (FP&R) within the teams, with focused emphasis in regards to People Capability, 5S & Visual Workplace, Autonomous Maintenance and Continuous Improvement.
Ensures the development of people, teams, and interpersonal capabilities by way of training, information sharing, mentor, feedback, delegation, and performance management
Leads the team in completing metrics and keeps the plant advised about operations performance on a regular basis.
Effectively addresses labor relations issues in the area when appropriate, according to CP Managing with Respect principles.
Support Employee Relations (ER) and performance issues investigations and follow ups in collaboration with Human Resources
Drive improvement of team performance and behaviors in line with Colgate’s value based environment.
Ensures compliance with facility policies and procedures, e.g., timekeeping, crewing, vacation scheduling, overtime, attendance etc. Gather data and identify a daily strategy which improves product quality and efficiency.
Coordinates the activity of operations and maintenance team members and ensure all company procedures are followed.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
2 years Supply Chain Manufacturing work experience
2 years supervisory experience
Ability to work irregular shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays and extra shifts as needed
Previous experience and proficiency with the following: MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications:
5 years manufacturing operations process and/or packaging equipment experience
Solid understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices, Batch Recordkeeping, and Quality Food & Drug Administration requirements
Proficiency with Google applications
SAP
Experience with Factory Performance and Reliability applications, with specific capability on Autonomous Maintenance, Preventative Maintenance, Visual Workplace, and efficiency standards.
Proven knowledge of Environmental Health & Safety requirements, as well as an understanding of EPA and OSHA requirements
Strong interpersonal and training skills
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range $72,400.00 – $114,000.00 USD
Pay is based on multiple non-discriminatory, individualized factors including but not limited to experience, job-related knowledge and education, skills and office/market location. In addition to base salary, salaried employees are eligible for annual discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing and, for Executive-level (salary grade 16 and above) roles only, long-term incentives in the form of Restricted Stock Units and/or Stock Options.
Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable benefits plans then in effect, all salaried employees are also eligible for a competitive benefits package which includes:

Retirement Plans: Employees are eligible to enroll in Colgates 401(k) plan, which provides for company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements
Vacation/PTO: Employees receive a minimum of 15 days of vacation/PTO leave annually
Paid Holidays: Employees receive a minimum of 13 paid/floating holidays annually
Paid Sick Leave: Based on location and consistent with applicable state and local law, employees receive a minimum of 40 hours of paid sick leave on January 1st of each year
Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees may take up to eight weeks of paid parental leave and 12 weeks of unpaid leave (varies for employees with fewer than 12 months of service and is subject to hours worked requirements)
