Safety and Compliance Specialist
This position is responsible, under limited supervision, to assist in the administration and implementation of moderate to complex safety compliance programs, policies and processes in an effort to achieve a workplace free of work related injuries, ensure regulatory compliance with applicable regulations, and prevent vehicle accidents.
Responsibilities
Assists in organizing and administering a comprehensive safety and compliance program
Assists in planning and administering training programs for regulatory compliance, accident and injury prevention, and other safety programs
Conducts detailed investigations into hours of service violations and appeals to ascertain nature of violation and employee culpability and, based thereon, develop action plans for remedial training, coaching, counseling, and/or disciplinary action
Conduct audits of both employees and depots relating to safety and compliance programs to ensure adherence to corporate policies and procedures and, based thereon, prepare reports to management together with recommendations, including additional training, coaching, counseling, and/or disciplinary action
Conducts investigations and assessments of safety, claims, and accident data relating to employees and locations to determine risk profile and, based thereon, prepare reports to management together with recommendations for additional training, coaching, counseling, etc. all geared towards accident and injury prevention
Develop and maintain partnerships with field management to ensure compliance and safety goals are meet as well as business needs in a cost effective manner. Serves as a safety and compliance resource for all field management and responds to requests for information and assistance in furtherance of the companys safety and compliance program
Interprets policies, procedures, guidelines, legal and regulatory statues regarding safety and compliance inquiries and issues
Assists in planning and administering training programs in accident prevention, and other employee safety procedures
Interfaces with Federal and state regulatory agencies for inspections, audits, and compliance issues relating to facility operations
Responsible to conduct yourself and ensure your subordinates (if applicable) conduct themselves in a manner consistent with company mission, values, code of ethics, policies, and other standards of conduct.
Preferred Qualifications
Education: Associates Degree or equivalent work related experience
Years of Related Experience: 3-5 years related work experience and/or equivalent education
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Basic PC skills to include Microsoft Office Suite; basic interpersonal and communication skills; basic numeric data analysis and investigative process and documentation skills; basicnegotiation skills; basic presentation skills
