Job Title: Sample Preparation TechnicianJob Description

This position is responsible for executing excellence in sample processing and comminution techniques in a high-volume, fast-paced commercial lab. Sample preparation is the first stage of the sample life cycle and it is crucial that all steps (processing, aliquoting, labelling, and storage) are completed correctly to ensure the accuracy of lab testing.

Hard Skills

Follow preparation techniques for the processing of samples for lab testing, including the use of grinding mills and other comminution techniques (i.e. blenders, Magic Bullet grinders, liquid nitrogen).

Ensure accurate labeling of sample cups with assigned unique identifiers.

Record sample preparation techniques and delivery details into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) software.

Maintain organization structure of samples by accurately delivering and disposing of samples as necessary.

Execute submission requests through third party labs by logging samples and preparing them for shipment.

Follow all lab safety and quality requirements and procedures (i.e. PPE, GMP, OSHA, ISO).

Complete various tasks involving titrations/dilutions as needed for sample prep.

Soft Skills

Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.

Strong organizational skills to maintain sample structure and documentation.

Effective communication skills for documenting and communicating testing timelines.

Job Type

This is a contract position with a duration of 12 Month(s).

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Work Environment

1st Shift, Full-time at 37.5-40 hours/week. M-F, core hours between either 9am-5pm or 7am-3pm, rotating during the week based on needs. Candidates need to be available for both shifts. Able to complete tasks while wearing required PPE (i.e. face shields, hearing protection, steel-toed shoes, OSHA-approved safety glasses, laboratory coat). Located in the JFB technical center in Golden Valley. The team consists of roughly 10-15 members in the lab prep area. The lab supports the sample handling and distribution to the analytical lab for testing of food samples.
