Title: Extrusion Technician
Reports to: Production Manager
FLSA: Non-exempt
Department: Production

Summary:
An Extrusion Technician is responsible for performing and maintaining the daily activities associated with a production line. This includes housekeeping, safety, quality, maintaining production efficiencies, repair and maintenance and minimizing downtime.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

– Practice proper PPE compliance and maintain a safe working record and environment
– Completion of shift production and reporting paperwork
– Immediately communicate unsafe conditions, acts or injuries to Production Supervisor
– Meet quality specifications for all products produced
– Preform Preventive Maintenance on all equipment as needed
– Troubleshoot process and mechanical problems and perform repairs and adjustments to meet production needs as required
– Practice proper forklift operation and preventive maintenance
– Maintain ability to operate various production lines and processes effectively
– Maintain facility housekeeping
– Adhere to PLP product sampling schedule
– Maintain and build job skills through company training programs
– Meet or exceed standard production efficiencieson all production lines
– Adhere to ISO 9001 Quality, certification requirements
– Perform tooling changeovers in an efficient manner
– Requires regular attendance per the schedule assigned by supervisor
– Other duties as assigned

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

This position should possess the following skills/knowledge:

– High school diploma or equivalent, desired
– Mechanical troubleshooting and repair abilities
– Ability to operate heavy machinery
– Analytical thinking and problem solving skills
– Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within manufacturing environment
– Self-motivated and dependable
– Punctual with good attendance
– Previous manufacturing machine operation or extrusion experience

Physical Requirements:

– Ability to repeatedly lift 75 pounds to a height of 6 feet
– Must be able to perform repetitive motion, such as: walking, reaching, bending, twisting, stooping, pushing, pulling, griping, and standing
– Ability to stand and be mobile for a minimum of 12 continuous hours
– Ability to work in temperature extremes
– Clarity of vision and the ability to focus on a fast repetitious operation
