Research Intern – Cardiology (Yusuf Lab)

The trainee will receive education on writing a study protocol and obtaining regulatory approval from IRB. The trainee will receive several forms of educational material, including in-person lectures, handouts, and reading material/recorded videos (to be read/viewed on their own time) about clinical study design. Training will be provided on how to use EPIC, REDCAP, and Excel. The trainee will be taught how to identify clinical information of interest in the patients electronic charts, create data collection spreadsheets in REDCAP or Microsoft Excel, and store patient information. The trainee will also learn how to analyze clinical data. Principles of basic biostatistical analysis will be taught. The trainee will attend weekly meetings in which several research databases are utilized and reviewed.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

The trainee will be taught principles of data analysis interpretation and presentation. Training will be offered on PowerPoint use for clinical research presentation purposes and how to create a poster. The trainee will be also provided with education on how to give a lecture and present clinical research findings.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Applicant must hold a bachelors or masters degree. Degree must have been obtained recently (within 1 year)

POSITION INFORMATION

This position (full-time or part-time) provides a stipend between $28,000 and $36,000.
