ROLE SUMMARY

Pfizer Ignite service collaborations expand the way Pfizer works together with biopharmaceutical partners (Partners) to advance innovative therapies. Pfizer Ignite offers unique differentiated capabilities with global scale and capacity, industry leading speed and quality, and a one-stop shop with expertise across the entire development lifecycle to develop quality assets and to build a strong relationship between Partners and Pfizer.

The Director, Strategic Partnerships, Oncology is responsible for identifying, developing, maintaining, and expanding relationships with strategically important oncology biopharmaceutical companies where the broader Pfizer organization has a potential or vested interest. This interest may include but not be limited to future research and development collaborations, financial ownership, and/or product/technology licensing.

In collaboration with the Strategic Partnerships Leads and the Head of Strategic Partnerships, the Director will assist in managing the overall engagement with biopharmaceutical companies, from initial conversation through deal execution, for potential Partners and for other important stakeholders within the broader industry. The Partners will be identified and agreed to by the Pfizer Ignite Leadership and Pfizer Business Development, in alignment with oncology and overall Pfizer corporate strategy.

The Director will represent Pfizer and the entire range of Pfizer Ignite services to their assigned Partners and enlist the support of, but not limited to, Pfizer Research and Development (PRD), Oncology Research and Development (ORD), Pfizer CentreOne (PC1), Pfizer Global Supply (PGS), Digital, Finance, and Legal, with a special emphasis on oncology opportunities. The Director will need to have a thorough understanding of the Pfizer Ignite Governance Process (and required scientific, clinical, and commercial data to advance the process, especially in oncology) and work within the construct of the process with key stakeholders. Collaborating with the broader Pfizer Ignite team in the Governance Process ensures that Pfizer Ignite engages with partners in alignment with the Pfizer Ignite strategy including activities stipulated in the contract (e.g., charters, Joint Steering Committee, communications, and contract management). work as a liaison between all of Pfizer and the Partner.

The role will also be responsible for gaining a deep understanding of the Partner organizational structure, key personnel, business areas of focus, and scientific requirements. They will be in constant pursuit of opportunities that will bring value to Pfizer and to Pfizer Ignite.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Communicate the scientific, clinical, commercial, and strategic value proposition of Pfizer Ignite to external biopharmaceutical stakeholders.

Work closely with internal Pfizer subject matter experts and leverage network within biopharmaceutical industry to identify potential Pfizer Ignite Partners.

Lead initial strategic and operational discussions in partnership with the Pfizer Ignite Operational Lead who will engage key Pfizer subject matter experts in pursuit of potential engagements.

Achieve assigned innovation growth targets as well as Pfizer Ignite objectives, business goals, and milestones as defined by leadership.

Autonomously interact with Partner leadership to strengthen the relationship and identify new opportunities.

Establish and maintain productive, professional relationships with key decision makers within Partners.

Secure needed organizational support as warranted from initial scoping of opportunity through engagement.

Closely coordinate with Pfizer leadership and Partner leadership as required throughout collaboration to ensure healthy relationship and successful delivery.

Proactively assess, clarify, and validate Partner needs through routine reviews; coordinate the involvement of Pfizer colleague and functions to achieve objectives and expectations.

On an as needed basis, represent Pfizer on areas of interest at the Partners.

On an as needed basis, assist in the development of additional service offerings through Pfizer Ignite

Liaise and align with Pfizer Business Development, Pfizer Research & Development (PRD), Oncology Research & Development (ORD), Pfizer CentreOne (PC1), Pfizer Global Supply (PGS), Digital, Finance and Legal to accomplish business objectives.

Gain a deep understanding of the Pfizer Ignite service model and management practices, such as governance processes and decision making, confidentiality, proposal generation, contract terms and conditions/repository management, system of record, and others.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

8 years of biopharmaceutical industry and senior leadership experience, with at least 3-5 years of scientific, operational or financial leadership

BA/BS in Biological Sciences, Pharmacology, Chemistry, Engineering, Pharmacy, or a related science discipline.

Strong interest in helping to scale Pfizer Ignite scientifically, operationally, and strategically.

A proven track record of strong executive relationship building and direct experience in biopharmaceutical research, development and/or manufacturing.

Facility with basic, translational, and clinical data interpretation within oncology to seek input from key internal stakeholders on promising Partner collaborations.

Ability to initiate, negotiate, and manage complex strategic contracts.

Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrated result-orientation, tenacity, and follow-through.

Ability to succeed in a matrixed environment with a high degree of flexibility.

Collaborate well with Pfizer Worldwide Business Development, Pfizer Ventures, PRD, ORD, PGS, PC1, Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs functions to accomplish business objectives.

Must have a proven track record of being effective at self-management and driving results autonomously.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

MD, PhD, or other advanced scientific degree is strongly preferred.

Experience in working closely with, or in, emerging oncology biotechnology companies.

P&L experience is strongly preferred.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

25-35% Travel Required

Office-based position with significant business travel from time-to-time, including Partner visits and scientific conferences, both in the U.S. and internationally.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $161,600.00 to $269,400.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizers Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 20.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
