This position has call – every other holiday and every other weekend.

DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

Under the supervision of the Operation Better Start Clinical Coordinator, the Dietitian directs and provides nutritional care to patients, conducts nutrition assessments, and works with other members of the health care team to achieve continually improving standards of nutritional care. This position encompasses acute care, long term care and outpatient clinical nutritional responsibilities, including diabetes education, community education, staff education, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)

Experience:

1-2 years previous hospital clinical experience preferred.

Education and Training:

Completed Bachelors Degree in Dietetics or related field and Dietetic Internship.

License, Certification & Registration:

LDN – MA Dietitian/Nutritionist acquired within 9 months of hire.

RD – Registered Dietitian through the Commission on Dietetic Registration within 6 months of hire.

Other Requirements:

Must accumulate 15 continuing education hours per year, which are AND & ADA approved.

Must demonstrate excellent communication and organizational skills.

Must present appropriately in leadership role as a health care provider and advocates a healthy lifestyle.

Must have working knowledge of diabetic, cardiac, renal, parenteral/enteral and pediatrics nutrition.

Must have knowledge of computer systems, telephone systems, pagers, and calculators.
