Position Summary
The Assistant Scientist, In-Process conducts routine general chemical and biological testing of materials and products for in-process, release and stability purpose, in compliance with all applicable procedures and regulations. A variety of duties are performed by a QC Specialist relating to the efficient and effective functioning of the Quality Control lab.
Duties & Responsibilities
Accurately perform and document laboratory work
Demonstrate familiarity with scientific techniques and practices within area of study
Ability to work independently on assays within realm of experience and training while requiring limited situational-dependent supervision. Demonstrating ongoing proficiency in the performance and theoretical understanding of a broad range of assays
Demonstrate the highest level of good documentation practices
Have familiarity with scientific techniques, instrumentation, and related computer systems
Perform instrument performance checks and calibration once trained
Assist in the modification of SOPs as required
Demonstrate on-going proficiency in the performance and theoretical understanding of a broad range of assays
Execute and assist in technical transfer and co-validation activities after demonstrated proficiency in assay
Perform data review based on demonstrated proficiency in assay within realm of experience and training
Train and assist less experienced scientists within area of expertise with assays
Individual will become a qualified trainer
Qualifications
Demonstrate problem solving, interpersonal , oral and written communication skills
Ability to prioritize objectives from multiple projects, adhere to scheduled time-lines while maintaining flexibility and attention to detail
Contribute to team based, collaborative and positive environment, clarity of purpose and high commitment to business goals
Demonstrate the ability to perform data analysis and data review
Have an understanding of lab functions, maintenance, safety, cGMP and SOPs
Education & Experience
BS degree in a scientific field with minimal experience (0-3 years)
Demonstrate theoretical understanding of scientific area within area of study
Work Environment
This position is a lab-based position which requires appropriate levels of personal protective equipment (PPE). This role will require contact with: bio-hazardous materials such as live cell cultures and other hazardous chemicals including methotrexate, acids, and caustics. Also, powdered materials and high temperature liquids and solids may also need to be handled.
This position is based indoors, and you will primarily be working with others, but also independently and alone at times.
Physical Demands
Frequent repeated motions such as pipetting, lifting, bending, twisting, squatting, crouching, kneeling, climbing on step-stools, and reaching is required. This role also requires frequent unassisted lifting (not to exceed 50 pounds). Repetitive use of arms/hands/wrists and grasping is also required.
This position is a team-based position that requires shift work, weekends, holidays and overtime. Hours are 6am-6pm on a rotating schedule (48/36 rotating schedule;12-hour shift).
