Responsibilities
Responsible for performing a variety of duties relating to the loan review function in order to assist in the ongoing management of credit risk; achieving goals as established in the departments annual review schedule; complying with operating policies and procedures established for the loan review function; communicating with appropriate personnel; responding to inquiries and requests for information; maintaining appropriate records and providing reports.
- Perform various duties relating to the loan review function in order to assist in the ongoing management of credit risk as follows:
- Conduct thorough credit reviews to analyze adherence to loan policy and procedure, credit quality collateral valuation, accuracy of core operating system as it relates to loan structure/pricing, and loan documentation.
- Independently review, risk grade and critique the Banks commercial loan portfolios as they relate to the Banks risk rating system, banking industry best practices and the Banks risk appetite. Independently review consumer installment and mortgage loans for compliance with Bank policy and procedure.
- Generate a Loan Review work paper as a result of the duties outlined above as well as other reports as needed to fully analyze each credit assigned in the portfolio.
- Be capable of working with minimal supervision while meeting established production requirements and review schedule deadlines. Inform team leader and/or manager of criticisms and regrades prior to issuing final draft.
- Be comfortable discussing issues, criticisms, and conclusions with lenders and management as well as defending risk rating conclusions to Banks regulators.
- Comply with established operating policies and procedures in order to maintain adequate controls and to support the Banks adherence to outside regulatory requirements.
- Provide quality and timely service to customers, whether internal or external.
- Demonstrate cooperative efforts in working with other departments and within own department.
- Communicate with management and staff personnel in order to integrate goals and activities.
- Respond to inquiries relating to her/his particular area, or to requests from other Bank personnel within given time frame and within established policy.
- Participate in the Banks acquisition due diligence team when required. Travel may be required.
- Satisfactorily complete Banks annual training in a timely manner.
- Maintain proficient knowledge of, and demonstrate ongoing compliance with all laws and regulations applicable to this position, ensure ongoing adherence to pertinent policies, procedures, and internal controls, and meet all job-specific training requirements in a timely fashion.
- Work as part of a Team.
Qualifications
Education/Training:
- BS or BA degree in a business related field of study (e.g., Finance, Management, Economics, Accounting) required.
- All applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
Skills:
- Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; proficient interpersonal relations and communication skills; a thorough knowledge of current bank lending principles, policies, and practices; knowledge of all types of lending and loan products; proficient financial statement analysis skills; knowledge of current lending and collection laws and regulations; proficiency in Personal Computer programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience using Jack Henry/Silverlake, Global Wave Portfolio Track and DiCOM Loan Review software preferred, but not required.
Experience:
- A minimum of five (5) years of commercial credit experience and ten (10) years of combined commercial lending, commercial credit, special assets, and/or loan review experience required.
