Surgery/Procedure Scheduler

Summary

Under the direction of the Manager, functions as a surgery and/or procedure scheduler and is responsible for answering multiple phone lines to schedule and coordinate times for patients for ancillary testing ordered by physicians at multiple locations. Conducts professional patient interviews, obtaining demographic and biographical information. Processes registrations and scheduling in an efficient, accurate and timely manner. Schedules and coordinates dates, times, and types of hospital procedures as well as preparation of admission packets for each patient. Coordinates all supplies and equipment necessary for surgery/procedure. Requests and identifies all necessary records so that the records are available to the physician for the stated diagnosis as well as assuring that the patient is scheduled with the appropriate physician for this diagnosis. Is responsible for the delivery of quality performance and service excellence; and adheres to the PH Standards of Behavior.

Education

Must be a high school graduate or the equivalent with GED. Must have completed basic Medical Terminology.

Licensure/Certification

None required.

Experience

Surgical Technologist experience preferred. Minimum 2 years experience in hospital or medical office.

Other Qualifications

Windows based PC skills required. Must be able to demonstrate basic knowledge and use of Internet and Microsoft Office. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must demonstrate professional telephone etiquette and a working knowledge of general computer skills and applications. Must demonstrate ability to multi-task and work independently using critical thinking skills.
