Essential Functions

– Create purchase orders from all approved purchase requisitions and order point items in a timely manner. Obtain purchase order acknowledgments from suppliers and update purchase order if necessary.
– Coordinate the purchasing of raw materials as required by the production schedule.
– Follow up with suppliers on past due orders, communicating any delays with the affected departments.
– Periodically input purchase requisitions for any needed MRO items/services.
– Manage VMI suppliers for MRO and consumable items.
– Ensure min and max of all items are setup appropriately to support operational needs and meet financial objectives by keeping inventory levels at optimized levels.
– Maintain accurate and up to date information in ERP system.
– Obtain necessary authorizations and approvals for MRO purchases, as well as bids on maintenance projects.
– Review and execute return to supplier requests and track replacement parts. Ensure proper credit is received and documented for all returns.
– Compile data from ERP system and create weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual materials reports.
– Communicates with Accounts Payable to ensure the timely processing of invoices against purchase orders.
– Ensures all incoming materials have current SDS on file.  Quarantine all products without SDS.  Apply appropriate SDS labels to all containers.
– Maintain record of all parts sent out for repairs.
– Fully participate in and champion company Safety and Continuous Improvement programs, as well as cost savings projects as required.
– Participate in SQF Housekeeping and Food Safety Programs.
– Complete all other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Required

– 3 years experience in purchasing MRO and indirect materials.
– Proficient in MS Office; including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
– Good organizational and analytical skills
– Team player
– Able to prioritize, manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing situations.
– Must be able to communicate effectively and possess good inter-personal skills. 
– Possess a good math aptitude and be detail oriented.

 

Preferred

– Bachelors degree in related field

 

Environment

Incumbent works in a manufacturing environment.  Individual will work 40 hours per week with occasional overtime.  Requires sitting (80%), moderate walking (10%) with standing (10%). Requires full range of body motion such as twisting, bending, squatting, reaching at/above/below shoulders, and lifting up to 25 pounds.  Requires near/far acuity and color vision.  Required safety equipment:  hair/beard net, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
