Job Description

The Accounting Services Division is adding an Accounting Assistant to their team.

This position is responsible for providing a full range of office support assignments in the Accounting Services Division. The position requires using judgment in making decisions within established policies and procedures. This position uses the SIGMA accounting system to generate payments and record accounting transactions. This position receives invoices for departmental purchases, verifies correctness of invoice and initiates payment to vendor. Responsibilities also include maintaining electronic files, databases and worksheets, where applicable.

Remote Work:This position is eligible to work remotely on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and must work onsite Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Selected candidate must have a safe and appropriate designated workspace or workstation for performance of work and secure and sufficient internet access of commercial cable or wireless broadband with minimum speeds of 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.

Work must be performed in the state of Michigan. If you currently reside outside of Michigan, you must relocate to Michigan to perform the duties of this position priorto being appointed to the position. Relocation expenses are not reimbursed.

Vacation and Sick Leave:Eligible full-time employees receive between15 and 35 personal daysand13 sick daysper year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.

Paid Parental Leave:Eligible employees can take12 weeks of paid leaveimmediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.

Paid Holidays:Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
