Position Overview

The Quality and Safety Coordinator is responsible for providing supporting activities during the quality processes of Mustad USA in accordance with the Mustad Performance System (MPS), ISO, and the Quality, Environmental, Safety and Health (QESH) standards. This position will provide detailed administrative and hands-on activities to help facilitate quality, Environmental, ISO, MPS and safety activities. Demonstrates Mustad values, showing respect for and engagement with co-workers, especially as they contribute to a quality product and organization success.

Essential Job Functions ( required duties and responsibilities)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Assists the QESH Supervisor in Safety and OSHA related activities in Mustad USA, including the safety pillar in MPS (Mustad Performance System).

Ensure compliance with quality plan for Mustad USA

Ensure compliance with OSHA, federal and state regulations (OSHA 300A) including environmental requirements.

Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations for Mustad USA

Investigate accidents and near misses, analyze root causes and recommend action to prevent recurrence

Assists the QESH Supervisor in overall maintenance of the ISO 9001 quality system, updating/training ISO documents for all areas including ISO /Quality audits. Specifically accountable for annual verification of all measuring devices at the forge and assisting in training all operators working in packaging.

Work with HR to set up a new employee on-boarding process for safety

Follows all safety and SOP regulations and procedures, including MPS

Is responsible for other duties as requested by management.

Education, Experience, and Skills Requirements

High school diploma

Proven experience in quality production processes.

Green belt certification.

Proven expertise in multicultural production environments

Experience working with an ERP system, excellent attention to detail and time management skills

Working knowledge of equipment, techniques, and standard work specific to manufactured products

Desirable Skills/Attributes (preferred but not required)

OSHA Certification

Advanced Excel capabilities

ISO 9000/14000 auditor certificate

Ability to provide constructive feedback both orally and in writing

Physical Demands

Extended time sitting, standing, and viewing of computer screen(s)

Infrequent lifting up to 25 lbs

Work Environment

Office setting in manufacturing/distribution facility environment

Exposure to plant and warehouse environment including heat, humidity, dust fumes, gases, toxic/caustic chemicals, airborne particles, and significantly loud noise; Exposure to moving mechanical parts on the lines, as well as moving equipment throughout the factory or warehouse

Mandatory use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which the company provides
