Job Summary

The Program Coordinator in Judicial Services, under the supervision of the Manager of Judicial Services, is responsible for the development and implementation of programs according to the needs of the 19th Judicial Circuit, Adult and Juvenile Court Services, Judicial Operations, the Law Library and the Kids Korner. The Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, training and supervision of the volunteers and the assignment of volunteers to appropriate opportunities. The Coordinator, along with Court Services, plans, develops and evaluates support programs and determines changes as needed. This is a grant funded position; continued employment in this position is based on external funding sources.

Required Qualification(s)

Bachelors degree in business, communication, marketing, or a related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two (2) years of experience in a professional environment developing, overseeing or supporting programs OR an Associates degree in business, communication, marketing or related field and a minimum of four (4) years of experience in a professional environment developing, overseeing or supporting programs

Demonstrated experience in development and cultivation of partnerships with internal staff, volunteers or representatives of external organizations.

Ability to manage travel to multiple court sites and all CLC campuses

Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal and presentation skills,

Ability to work effectively and constructively with persons of diverse cultures, gender identities, language groups, and abilities; demonstrate sensitivity to and ability to work with the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Desired Qualification(s)

Professional experience and understanding of the probation system ideally in the19th Circuit Court of Lake County Illinois

An Associates or Bachelors degree in criminal justice

Bilingual Spanish and English

Summary of Essential Functions

Project and Process Management – 40%

Defines volunteer requirements and assists with the verification, communication and acceptance of volunteers into the various programs in collaboration with the probation department partners.

Tracks and report volunteer activity and participation to the Manager of Judicial Services at least quarterly by event or program.

Maintains a volunteer database with active contact information and participation information.

Acts as a representative of the College and actively participate on committees such as Girl Wise as assigned

Analyzes enrollment in assigned programs, communicates additional volunteer needs, reviews participant and volunteer feedback and communicates information to the probation department partners.

Maintains knowledge of Court operations and requirements as well as College policies, procedures, and appropriate technology systems to inform, evaluate and update internal processes.

Assists, coordinates and evaluates activities, programs and events for the Adult Probation Outreach Presentation Series which focuses on improving life skills for participation in collaboration with the 19th Circuit of Lake County Illinois Probation Department.

Personnel Management – 40%

Recruits, screens, trains, manages and supports volunteers in the judicial programs, ensuring adequate resources to achieve defined goals and program success.

Develops, assigns and manages all volunteer schedules.

Evaluates volunteer performance annually and provides feedback and support to each individual.

Designs and implements on-going recognition of volunteers to maintain or improve retention.

Plans and implements the annual volunteer recognition event.

Customer Services – 10%

Meets regularly with court department partners to ensure high level of customer service for all program participants and volunteers.

Acts as an event host for court events, programs and activities.

Manages on-campus space reservations and appropriate technology and other related event, program or activity needs on behalf of the court partners.

Establishes and maintains a database of event, program or activity speakers and subject matter experts for referral to court partners. Assists with screening, outreach and assignment of speakers.

Technology – 5%

Learns and utilizes the Judicial Services proprietary database systems for the Circuit Court.

Acts as the subject matter expert on all Court software applications used by volunteers and specifically delivers training on usage to volunteers.

Other – 5%

Participate in college, unit, division, department meetings as required.

Assist with special projects within the department or division as assigned.

Perform any and all other assigned duties in support of the mission and vision of the College of Lake County and the goals of the unit, division and department.
