Overview

The Facilities Technician Apprentice is responsible for the daily operation, general upkeep, preventative maintenance and repairs at Superior corporate building and its properties. We will train you to have a working knowledge of building mechanical, electrical, plumbing, painting, HVAC, and carpentry to ensure proper operations at all facilities. Will receive quotes and coordinate scheduling with outside contractors for major repair work.

Responsibilities

Must be able to troubleshoot and diagnose minor repairs.

Experience with hand and power tools.

Prior experience with carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC a plus.

Must be able to understand and follow oral/written instructions.

Able to move and lift up to 70lbs.

Job will require repetitive bending, lifting, stretching, reaching, and climbing.

Essential Duties:

Performs routine building maintenance functions including plumbing, changing light bulbs, carpentry, and painting in order to maintain and repair facilities.

Performs preventative maintenance and minor repairs on heating and cooling systems.

Coordinates maintenance efforts with outside contractors and technicians for major repairs.

Prepares and maintains records and logs of scheduled maintenance procedures.

May obtain estimates for supplies, repair parts and from outside contractors.

Prioritizes service calls and follows up upon completion.

Performs small building construction projects.

Assists with moving of equipment.

Responds quickly to emergency situations.

Keeps work areas clean and neat.

Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

Must have a valid and current driver’s license.

Have a clean and acceptable driving record.

High School diploma or GED.

Must have good physical mobility to climb, bend, lift, and reach.

Should have good command of the English language in order to read manuals and take verbal/written instructions.

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.

Experience operating small hand and power tools.

Should have good troubleshooting skills and work well independently as well as with others.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is consistently required to use hands, fingers, handle, feel; and talk, hear & see. The employee is frequently required to climb, lift, stand, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, walk, and drive. The employee is required to reach, push and pull with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus, ability to judge distance and space relationships, be able to see clearly at 20 feet or more and see peripherally. The employee is occasionally required to work under high pressure in a fast-paced environment. Travel to other company locations is required. Should be able to move, raise and lower objects of up to 70 lbs.

Work Environment :

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly in contact with others. Will be working indoors and outdoors and will be exposed to moving mechanical parts; risk of electrical shock; environmental elements (heat, cold, water, noise); fumes, airborne particles and chemicals.
