General Function
The Artist-in-Residence is a non-tenure track faculty position appointed on the basis of outstanding professional attainments, creative accomplishments, and recognition in his or her specific field and renders specified service to the University including lectures, performances, demonstrations, master classes, and consultations.
Description of Primary Duties
Teach four undergraduate courses per semester in the areas of design and new media. Foster a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment that engages diverse learners.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
The minimum acceptable qualifications for the position of Artist-in-Residence are prescribed in the Faculty Handbook. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.
Additional Qualifications
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Design, New Media, Digital Arts, or a related field. Applicants should have at least two (2) years of professional or academic experience in two or more of the following areas: web design and development ( HTML , CSS , JavaScript), user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design, motion graphics, immersive media (AR/VR), interactive design, human-computer interaction, data visualization, generative processes, or creative coding. Candidates must demonstrate teaching ability either formally or informally as well as proficiency with relevant industry-standard software and tools.
