Position Summary: The Maintenance Technician – Level 4 performs moderately complex repair of equipment and facilities mechanical systems. This is a Multi-Craft position. The individual diagnoses, troubleshoots, tests, and repairs facilities equipment failures. Additionally, the role ensures the operation of all machinery and mechanical equipment are in good standing by completing preventive maintenance. The main responsibility is to ensure that the condition of all manufacturing areas meets or exceeds the standards required to create lithium-ion cells.
Essential Duties:
Performs all the duties of a Maintenance Technician – Level 4
Works closely with Maintenance team members and the Operations team members to maintain PENA equipment
Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturers instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions
Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments
Performs complex electrical or mechanical troubleshooting to determine problems in non-functioning electro-mechanical equipment
Reading of assembly, electrical, and hydraulic prints, as well as parts exploded views
Identifies faulty operations and defective material and escalates concerns to supervisors
Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form, function, and condition of parts
Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts: using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments
Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges
Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance
Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment
Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt
Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results
Suggests, develops, and implements machine modifications and processes to ensure machine and production efficiencies
Maintains accurate records of completed work on the equipment and machines, including After Action Reviews (AAR)
Works according to Standard Work and helps develop Standard Work where none has been developed
Actively works toward the elimination of unexpected breakdowns
Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests
Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks
Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations and LOTO
Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains the shop areas, productions areas, parts, tools, and supplies maintaining a 6S environment
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:
To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees’, wearing PPE is a possibility and includes equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator.

Qualifications: Requirements – Required and/or Preferred
Education:
Basic: High school diploma or GED or Associates Degree
Preferred: Journeyman technical training or four years related work experience in manufacturing or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience
Essential Qualifications:
Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English
Must have basic Mathematical knowledge and be able to do standard calculations
Must have a basic understanding of Electrical Theory
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications:
Trade school/vocational graduate preferred
PLC training and experience
Superior communication and interpersonal skills
Resilient, self-motived and able to work well under pressure
