Associate Lab Analyst

Description:

Support refinery operations by performing and reporting both routine and non-routine analyses. Perform general maintenance and troubleshooting functions on analyzers as needed. Monitor quality control charts and interact with other analysts and refinery personnel.

Perform analyses and report data.
Maintain analytical specialization in laboratory areas.
Assist with training of other Lab Anaysts as needed.
Validate data for product certification and generate Certificates of Analysis for product and intermediate tanks.
General instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
Write and update lab procedures as needed.
Performs special projects as assigned by Laboratory Manager.
Other duties as assigned.

This position is hourly nonexempt status, which means you are eligible for overtime pay.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or higher level degree in Chemistry, Biology, Bio-Chemistry, Physics, or related field required.
Minimum of one year of directly related laboratory experience required.
Able to work weekends and nights required.
Able to work a rotating 12-hour shift required.
Bachelors or higher level degree in Chemistry preferred.
Required to work in a collaborative, on-site work environment, which will include participation in unscheduled discussions and troubleshooting on an as-needed basis.
Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero Meraux Refinery, required.
