LPN- 4 Main Acute Care- (7p-7a)

UPMC Cole is hiring an LPN for our 4 Main Acute Care department. This is a full-time position that is eligible for a generous sign-on bonus. See below for more details:
Shift: Primarily night – off-shifts as needed for coverage
Hours : Primarily 7P-7A
Weekend/Holiday Schedule : Every other weekend and rotating holidays.
Sign- On Bonus: $12,500 for experienced LPNs. $10,000 for GPNs (less than 1 year of experience).
Responsibilities:
Adheres to the standards of nursing care and the policies and procedures of the hospital and Nursing Department including nursing philosophy, mission, vision and values. Records and reports all observed symptoms, reactions, treatments and changes in the patients condition to the Registered Nurse.
Assists doctor with examinations, treatments, special tests and procedures as directed by the Registered Nurse. Assists with rehabilitation of patients in accordance with the medical care plan under the supervision of the Registered Nurse. Answers call lights; assists patients with personal hygiene and other activities of daily living.
Assists in admitting, discharging and transferring patients.Maintains an attractive and comfortable environment for patients with special consideration given to cleanliness of room, ventilation and lighting.Provides for patients safety and safe care of valuables.
Participates in team conferences, development of nursing care plans and team and shift reports, facility committees as assigned. Administers medications to assigned patients and/or to all patients assigned to a team. Administer IV medications after having satisfactorily the facility approved IV medication course. Assists in orientation of new staff. Possesses strong customer service-focus. Promotes effective interpersonal relationships and positive attitudes among patient care team. Participates in the economical utilization of supplies and ensures that equipment is maintained in a clean and safe manner. Possesses skills necessary to provide care/services appropriate to the age of the patients served. Involved in surveillance and ensuring the patient safety culture at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital. Reports patient safety concerns and events. Exhibits accountability and contributes to patient safety. Assesses and monitors patients level and response to pain.
Educates patients in pain management and its impact on patient outcome. A Practical Nurse who has taken a basic arrhythmia class and completed the competency will be expected to do telemetry monitoring in the ICU, if floated there. Performs telemetry monitoring, as required.
Completion of a Practical Nursing Program approved by the State Board of Nursing.
A current PA LPN license required.
BLS required. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
