Hospital Billing Processor
Job Summary:
The Hospital Billing Processor will:
1. Process unvalidated claims as provided and assigned for all UPHS Health System facilities in a timely manner.
2. Follow all documented and established procedures related to claims processing.
3. Respond to EPIC & Claim Agent Work list &/or requests following established procedures.
4. Comment on all accounts with intelligible verbiage conducive to effective collection activity.
5. Demonstrate personal ownership for accurate and timely completion of duties, as assigned.
6. Understand that attention to detail and following departmental policies is key to ensure billing compliance.
7. Be recognized as a subject matter expert (SME) in the areas of billing policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
Process claims in billing claim queues as assigned using established procedures. Strive to work all claims in the assigned queue by week end.
Correct held claims in claim queues using established procedures.
Process secondary payor claims using established procedures.
Communicate issues that impact the processing of claims to the Billing Management Team.
Adhere to the Quality Review and Billing Productivity standards established for each unit or individual, recognizing that approved special projects will be calculated into the Productivity standards.
Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Possess excellent organizational skills and the ability to communicate to peers and all levels of the organization in a friendly and respectful manner.
Continually look for ways to improve the quality and/or efficiency of policies and procedures that affect the Revenue Cycle.
Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures.
Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization.
Credentials:
AAHAM (Preferred).
Education or Equivalent Experience:
H.S. Diploma/GED (Required).
2 years of prior work experience that demonstrates problem-solving and organizational abilities, multitasking and managing time effectively, and knowledge of working in system software, utility software, and application software applications (Required).
Experience in handling billing and account receivables in a similar set up or related field (Preferred).
Skills & Abilities:
Demonstrated customer service skills.
Ability to utilize computer software.
Good communication skills required both and written.
Must be able to accept responsibility and work under pressure.
