Job Summary : The Perfusionist is responsible for perfusion and related services at Roper CareAlliance. The perfusionist will manage the operation of the heart/lung machine, intra-aortic balloon pump, the cell saving device for intra-operative blood salvaging, and other instrumentation necessary for the performance of his/her duties as prescribed by departmental and system wide policies. The perfusionist will maintain the clinical standards necessary and appropriate for the performance of all perfusion related duties as defined by hospital policy, state or federal law and accrediting agencies.
Minimum Qualifications :
Education: B.S. or B.A. degree required. Must be a graduate of a perfusion training program accredited by the Accreditation Committee for Perfusion Education (AC-PE) or its successor organization.
Experience: Minimum of one-year recent clinical experience.
Licensure/Certification: Must be certified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion or its successor organization, as a Certified Clinical Perfusionist (CCP). Must have a current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card.

In performing all aspects of The Perfusion Scope of Practice as identified by the American
Society of Extracorporeal Technology (AmSECT).
Must have ability to work well with all patient groups, the public and fellow health care professionals. Must be proficient in word processing, Windows 98, and Microsoft Office 97.
Must be self-directed independent worker who can handle multiple tasks and remain calm in high stress, fast-paced environments.
Other: Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
Contacts : Must have ability to deal with and successfully interact with patients, visitors, physicians, hospital staff and other employees in a productive and diplomatic manner. Must also positively represent Roper CareAlliance’s best interests in dealing with vendors and technical representatives of manufacturers of cardiovascular equipment and supplies.
Work Demands/Environment :
Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, stooping. Frequent lifting/moving patients. Intermittent lifting, moving or carrying, pushing or pulling up to 50 lbs. Frequent use of finger/hand dexterity. Constant reaching with hands/arms. Frequent talking or hearing. Corrected hearing and vision to normal range. Exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue. Possible exposure to infectious materials, communicable diseases and/or other conditions common to a healthcare environment. Intermittent exposure to risk of exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Moderate noise level in work area. Requires work under stressful conditions, deadlines, or irregular hours. May be required to take call and/or work weekends/holidays based on the needs of the department.
