Overview

Tanaq Support Services (TSS) delivers professional, scientific, and technical services and information technology (IT) solutions to federal agencies in health, agriculture, technology, and other government services. TSS is a subsidiary of the St. George Tanaq Corporation, an Alaskan Native Corporation (ANC) committed to serving Federal customers while also giving back to the Tanaq native community and shareholders.

About the Role

We are seeking a Technical Writer/Editor II to provide support to our public health Federal Government customer.

This is a hybrid remote role based in Atlanta, GA.

Responsibilities

Assist in the collection and organization of technical and scientific information required for the preparation of materials.

Provide a full range of editorial support, including serving as expert copyeditor on materials created for customers and partners.

Write and edit government customer content, including scientific and technical infection control content “message maps,” training and educational resources, web content, and reports.

Review partner-created content to ensure technical accuracy; correct grammar and appropriate citations; alignment with government customer and messaging, scope, and guidance; and to ensure that materials are clear and readable.

Collaborate with communications, policy, and scientific staff to create educational materials, talking points, promotional materials, social media content, blog content, policy statements, reports, public presentations, prepared public responses and other online content; ensure that all materials are based in science and are audience appropriate.

Participate in collaborative efforts to create graphics, video, and images to convey information.

Ensure that all materials follow best practices for health education, risk communication, and plain language.

Ensure scientific and technical consistency of customer and partner messages and materials.

Assist government customer scientific staff in responding to requests for information, presentations, and other events by creating messaging, slide sets, prepared responses, and handouts.

Contribute to web, collateral, messaging, graphics, timeline, planning, project management. Participate in meetings as needed to foster collaboration and to help ensure consistent messaging and “voice” across projects.

Proactively identify, research, and resolve problems or issues; participate in team strategy sessions to recommend and discuss solutions.

Requirements

Required Skills and Experience

Minimum 3 years of experience as editor and in communications in a public health setting.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.

Experience writing in plain language for non-technical or/or non-scientific audiences.

Ability to collaborate with others and be a team player.

Graphic and multimedia skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including advanced Microsoft Excel and SharePoint.

Superior multi-tasking and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize assignments, while remaining flexible to changing priorities and new initiatives.

Project management skills.

Previous experience with public health Federal Government agency programs, policies, procedures, and communication activities preferred.

Ability to obtain a government clearance.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Education and Training

Bachelors degree in a related field such as: Communications (journalism, advertising, marketing, public relations); or English (writing/editing); or Public Health required.

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. May need to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
