The Medical Scribe will transcribe patient visit notes into the electronic medical record system. Decisions are limited to defined parameters around work expectations, quality standards, priorities and timing, and works under close supervision and/or within established policies/practices and guidelines with minimal opportunity for deviation.
The Medical Scribe contributes to administration of care management by ensuring uncompromised patient care by transcribing fast and accurately, as well as performing thorough editing. The Medical Scribe works with Providers and transcription equipment including editing and correcting medical dictation performed by speech recognition software. Performs basic administrative/clerical/operational/customer support/computational tasks. Typically works on routine and patterned assignments.
Job Functions:
Editing and correcting medical dictation performed by speech recognition software.
Ensuring uncompromised patient care by transcribing fast and accurately, as well as performing thorough editing.
Typing out the full forms of medical abbreviations and acronyms, as well as the formal versions of medical jargon.
Identifying and following up on inconsistencies, errors, and missing information within a transcribed report.
Submitting transcriptions to healthcare professionals for their approval in a timely manner.
Performing additional tasks such as following up and revising patient history, as well as entering medical reports into electronic health records systems.
Protecting patient confidentiality and adhering to legal requirements.
Receive patients, schedule appointments, and maintain patient records
Work with transcription equipment that can include speech recognition equipment, word processing, and computer software
Create templates and enter data into electronic health record (EHR) systems for updated record keeping and archives
Performing clerical and administrative tasks as necessary, including mail, phone calls, scheduling, submitting insurance claims, and operating common office machines.
Recording patient medical histories, physical examinations, test results, diagnoses, and treatment plans in digital audio files
Providing customer service to physicians, nurses, other healthcare professionals, and patients through email, telephone, or face-to-face meetings

Required Qualifications
1 years of experience as a Medical Scribe/Transcriptionist, or similar, such as provider documentation/notes and medical charting
EMR Experience
Proficiency in Electronic Health Record systems.
Ability to transcribe accurately.
Experience with specialized transcription equipment and voice recognition software.
In-depth knowledge of medical terminology and jargon, as well as editing practice.
Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and meet legal requirements.
Exceptional written communication skills and knowledge of medical record formats.
Willing to travel to nearby clinics to help when needed.
Preferred Qualifications
eCW Experience Strongly preferred
Certification as a healthcare documentation specialist would be advantageous.
Medical Assistant Background
Demonstrated excellent customer service and communication skills
Microsoft Access proficiency

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.$31,900 – $43,900 per year
