Schedule: Nights plus needs to be available at least 4 hours via the day

Shift : 3/12s Nights 7p-7a plus 4 hours on a days shift which those hours would be from home

The role you’ll contribute:

The Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Practitioner functions as a learning facilitator, change agent, mentor, leader, champion for inquiry, advocate for NPD specialty and partner for practice transitions as they guide the learner toward desired outcomes. The NPD Practitioner continuously uses environmental scanning to intentionally assess opportunities and challenges within and externally to the organization, and identifies opportunities based on global and national healthcare trends, legislative changes, needs of collaborative partners, educational gaps, emerging technologies, and the clinical staff member’s desire for growth. The NPD Practitioner actively interacts with learners to contribute to nursing professional development processes and ensures the achievement of measurable outcomes, influences professional role competence and growth of learners in a variety of settings.

The value you’ll bring to the team:

Orientation/Onboarding:

· Creates, plans, implements, and coordinates orientation for individuals new to the nursing unit/department using the NPD standards of practice including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation with the NPD Practice model using inputs, throughputs, and outcomes to ensure a systematic approach to onboarding orientation.

· Adjusts implementation strategies as needed based on the learner’s developmental level, learning needs, readiness, ability to learn, language, and cultural preferences.

· Engages learners in planned educational activities through effective facilitation skills.

Competency Management:

· Creates, plans, implements, and coordinates activities related to training of new graduates, experienced nurses, and ancillary staff new to the unit/department based on collection of data that is used systematically and purposefully to ensure relevant and evidence-based learning for each clinician.

· Activities include coaching of new nurses, facilitation of learning, using simulation, and tools that capture objective and subjective data about the individual’s knowledge base and actual performance.

· Utilizes clinical problems to promote inquiry/investigation and improvement, follows through with competency assessment of new/changed skills and concepts.

· Creates the safest environment possible for conducting assessment and observation of practice.

· Collects data to evaluate and refine competency management activities.

· Role models competent practice and facilitates a positive learning environment.

Education/Continuing Nursing Education:

· Designs engaging, interactive, state of the art educational activities/plans rooted in adult learning principles; implements and coordinates activities related to clinical practice and lifelong career development. Integrates regulatory standards to meet the requirements for continuing education contact hours, when appropriate.

· The programs/activities are based on identification of a professional practice gap/needs assessments, and current evidence-based practice/literature.

· Programs are designed to augment the knowledge, skills and attitudes of assigned staff including continuing education, in-service education, continued competence training, or new information based on unit/department needs, organization initiatives/goals and policy revisions.

· Develops, incorporates, and implements evidence-based plans in collaboration with content experts, representatives of target audiences, and other stakeholders to support interprofessional/team coordination of care across the continuum.

Professional Role Development:

· NPD Practitioner may assist others in their professional role development, practice role transitions, and succession planning.

· Assists staff to identify areas for individual growth, including opportunities for advancement.

· Provides resources for role transition.

· Promotes certification and advanced formal education.

Collaborative Partnership:

· Promotes a supportive environment for students by partnering with the academics department for student placement and a positive student experience within the unit/department.

· Implements the NPD initiatives demonstrating caring behaviors, respect, equity, inclusiveness and empathy in actions and interactions with others.

· Identifies opportunities for collaboration/partnership related to education and clinical practice.

Research/Evidence-Based Practice (EBP)/Quality Improvement (QI):

· Serves as a resource for clinical inquiry, including identification of potential projects, and/or subject matter expertise.

· Demonstrates a “spirit of inquiry” to support professional curiosity including research, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement initiatives using the organization’s preferred structure, i.e. PDSA (plan, do, study, act).

· Works with others to identify problems and solutions and collaboratively create and assists in the implementation of the changes planned.

· Creates a supportive environment for nursing research, scientific inquiry, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice.

· Disseminates evidence-based practice findings through educational programs, courses, and other activities.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed :

· Bachelor’s degree in nursing

· Minimum two (2) years nursing experience

· Current, valid Florida State of Nursing license as a registered professional nurse

· Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification

· Advanced Life support certification (ACLS, PALS, NRP) per specialty/unit requirements
