Job Purpose:

This position will perform various accounting functions to support Progress Rails Signal Division. Work location may be filled at Hudson, WI; Louisville, KY; or Albertville, AL.

The Signal Division Accountant will primarily be responsible for Accounts Payable, Customer Invoicing, Accounts Receivable, and supporting the month end closing including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analysis.

Education / Training:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required;

• Associate level degree or higher preferred;

• 1-2 years accounting experience in manufacturing, or related field preferred.

Key Job Elements:

• Prepare customer invoices and distribute to customers;

• Work with collections department to ensure timely collection of invoices;

• Ensure that cut-off for billing and invoicing is accurate and meets month end deadlines;

• Process mail and scan all AP invoices into our systems;

• Perform data entry of accounts payable invoices in an accurate and timely manner utilizing basic problem-solving skills and working with operations;

• Analysis of inventory cost accounting for projects;

• Complete month end close process including preparing journal entries and account reconciliations;

• Gather data to be used in monthly reports;

• Assist in preparation of financial forecasts and budgets;

• Assist with cycle counts and yearly physical inventory counts;

• Assist in testing internal controls for Sarbanes Oxley compliance;

• Assist in pulling supporting documentation for internal and external audit requirements;

• Follow established accounting policies & procedures;

• Prepare ad hoc reports and analysis as requested;

• Participate in special projects as needed;

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Associate level degree or higher preferred;

• 1-2 years accounting experience in manufacturing, or related field preferred;

• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint);

• Baan Infor LN or other ERP system knowledge;

• Good analytical skills and general knowledge of accounting principles;

• Proven interpersonal and communication skills;

• Detail-oriented/sense of urgency/follow-through;

• Ability to multi-task, work independently, and work effectively in varying environments.
