Job Summary and Qualifications

Based in Nashville, TN (Brentwood office), the Senior Product Analyst executes the development, implementation, and management of solutions and services in support of the clinical research activities of HCA Healthcare Research Institute. The Senior Product Analyst serves as the subject matter expert for HCA Research Institute clinical and administrative systems and enables these solutions through requirements analysis, configuration, and deployments. The Senior Product Analyst will support quality compliance throughout each software implementation effort by adhering to clinical research regulations and system validation standards, including the authoring of validation artifacts and/or execution of formal testing. The Senior Product Analyst will also establish application support processes, provide end user support, and maintain supporting documentation for HCA Research Institute systems.

Major Responsibilities

Product Analysis and Implementations (Advanced)

Requirements – Elicits business requirements through meetings and interviews. Translates business needs into system requirements using knowledge of software functionality and capabilities.

Workflow Analysis and Solutioning – Analyzes business processes to understand and document workflows. Generates creative solutions to improve or facilitate processes.

Configuration and Customization – Works closely with software vendor (internal or external) to meet customer needs, configure and test the application, and prepare environments for go-live.

Implementations – Works closely with the business to plan for go-live, ensure knowledge transfer and training, and prepare end users for initial activities within the system.

Product Maintenance and Enhancements (Advanced)

Change Coordination – Documents system maintenance and changes, prepares release notes, and communicates downtime.

Enhancement Backlog – Handles intake of enhancement requests, assesses for feasibility, prioritizes based on value and effort, and tracks to delivery.

Quality Assurance – Performs and documents testing of system changes in pre-production environments and performs smoke testing in production (when applicable).

Continuous Improvement – Independently researches ideas that improve technology and/or processes, proposes changes, and measures impact.

Vendor Relationship – Serves as a primary point of contact with software vendor (internal or external), actively participates in regular meetings, stays informed of product roadmap, and coordinates maintenance and releases.

Product Support and Documentation (Advanced)

Subject Matter Expert (SME) – Serves as the SME for system functionality, processes, infrastructure, data, troubleshooting, etc.

Documentation – Maintains a robust library of system support documentation (e.g. flow diagrams, user guides, support matrices, knowledge base articles, and recordings) in centralized locations.

Incidents and Requests – Manages incidents as Tier 2 support, escalates to vendor as appropriate, and coordinates resolution across all parties. Completes configuration and access requests in a timely manner.

Customer Service – Acts with empathy to provide the highest level of service to resolve issues and answer questions for end users and other stakeholders.

Downtime – Supports business preparation for downtime and assists with downtime procedures when initiated. Prepares disaster recovery plans.

Information Security – Maintains Information Systems Account Management (ISAM) document and processes. Supports other security reviews/requests and maintains appropriate documentation.

System Validation and Clinical Research (experience preferred by not required)

System Validation – Understands system validation standards (e.g. FDA CSV Guidance, Annex 11, GAMP-5, ICH, ISO/IEC, PIC/S) and adheres to standard operating procedures to achieve and maintain validated state of applicable systems. Authors validation artifacts (e.g. Design Specifications, Functional Specifications, User Requirement Specifications, Validation Plan, Traceability Matrix, Test Scripts), executes testing (e.g. Installation Qualification, Operational Qualification, Performance Qualification), and coordinates validation approvals (e.g. signatures, Validation Report, Certificate).

Research Regulations – Understands clinical research regulations and supports both the systems and business processes to maintain compliance with privacy practices (e.g. HIPAA), quality standards (e.g. GCP), and regulations for electronic records (e.g. 21 CFR Part 11).

Quality Management – Facilitates activities between IT and quality teams. Maintains patience and strict adherence to standard operating procedures, generating appropriate documentation to achieve compliance. Proposes improvements to the organizations risk-based approach to system validation standards and research regulations.

Data Management and Integrations (Advanced)

Data Capture and Flow – Understands how data enters the system, where it flows, and what it means.

Data Analysis and Reporting – Produces adhoc reports using data queries (e.g. SQL) and creative data manipulation (e.g. Excel) to identify trends and insights. Assists the business in efforts to define and build reports.

Integrations – Supports data exchange between systems and understands the mechanisms facilitating the integration.

Teamwork and Communication (Advanced)

Presentations and Workshops – Performs demos, leads workshops, and delivers presentations for the business and other various audiences.

Written Communication – Prepares formal email communications and other documents to be distributed to wide audiences (e.g. downtime messages, go-live announcements, release notes).

Collaboration – Builds relationships, communicates, and collaborates with stakeholders of all levels, personalities, and technical expertise (e.g. business leaders, end users, vendors, project teams, etc.).

Accountability – Motivated to work independently. Holds self and others accountable as an effective way to build trust and drive progress.

Other Duties

Practices and adheres to the Code of Conduct philosophy and Mission and Value Statement.

Performs occasional after-hours and weekend work for implementations, releases, and support.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

Required- High School Graduate/Equivalent

Preferred- Bachelors degree

Required- 5 years of relevant experience

Preferred- 3 years of experience implementing clinical research applications or systems requiring software validation

Preferred- Knowledge of HCA Information Technology Group processes & tools

Preferred- Knowledge of regulatory policies, quality standards, and software validation guidelines (e.g. HIPAA, GCP, 21 CFR Part 11, FDA CSV Guidance, Annex 11, GAMP-5, ICH, ISO/IEC, PIC/S)

Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience

Certifications:

Preferred- Agile/scrum or project management certification
