Job Summary

Distribution Specialists are needed to properly and efficiently handle materials shipping to and from the University. They are responsible for receiving shipments, maintaining the warehouse, handling surplus property, and assisting in property disposal.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Receives shipments, verifying the number of packages received, noting the condition of packages received, and collecting the proper documentation.

Enters packages received and delivered into the Track-pad system, obtains signatures as required, and notes any damage or discrepancies.

Performs duties such as unloading and loading trucks for delivery, sorting items for delivery to departments, delivering items promptly, and obtaining signatures as required.

Accepts and documents surplus items received by organizing and storing surplus by categories and maintaining surplus records in the surplus property database.

Processes requests for items to be shipped out and maintains proper documentation.

Operates vehicles such as vans, trucks, forklifts, and pallet jacks. Maintains a neat and orderly warehouse. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or GED with at least three months experience in a warehouse atmosphere.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Excellent verbal and social skills. Ability to operate a computer and possess a basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.

Able to lift 30 lbs. on a regular basis

Ability to work in all types of weather.

Preferred Qualifications

Associates degree from an accredited college. Certified Forklift operator.
