Substation Engineer
Actalent is seeking a Physical Substation Engineer to assist leadership to grow the energy practice in the Power & Renewables sector and be responsible for execution of the substation scope. We are looking for an experienced degreed engineer interested in a role focused on business growth and technical project management. The Engineer will collaborate with coworkers and clients while utilizing the most current technical software and techniques to manage the Scope, Design, Schedule, and Budget of multidiscipline projects.
This is a fully remote opportunity to join an award-winning engineering, architecture, planning, and environmental consulting firm based in Ohio supporting both public and private client.
Travel to the office in Columbus, OH once every 2 months is required. At most, during project closures, candidates would need to travel to Columbus, OH twice per month.
Responsibilities:
Engineer medium and high voltage substation projects from conceptual design through construction
Prepare electrical physical design packages, including One-line, Site Plan, Electrical Plan & Sections, Grounding Plan & Details, Conduit Plan and Details, Control House Plan, Control House Grounding Plan & Details, Lighting Plan, Lightning Protection Plan, and Bill of Materials (BOM)
Coordinate with Designers and Engineers of other disciplines to complete deliverables
Interpret and incorporate vendor information into design deliverables
Perform QA/QC of electrical engineering design packages
Provide regular progress updates and reporting on project deliverables
Provide engineering and technical support and reviews to field crews during construction
Requirements:
Bachelors of Civil or Electrical Engineering Degree
PE or EIT and on track to obtain PE within 1 year of hire
5-10 years physical substation engineering experience for equipment inside the substation
Knowledge of equipment and electrical interconnects, transformers, short circuit studies, breakers, & equipment layout
Working knowledge of applicable computer software necessary to fulfill job duties including but not limited to Power System Software, Microsoft Office, and CAD
Familiarity with electric utilities standards and NESC
