Dietary Aide/Cook

The Dietary Aide will assist with meal preparation, dining room assistance, dishwashing and cleaning. The Dietary Aide is responsible for assisting in maintaining and cleaning the kitchen areas, equipment, utensils and serving trays. The Dietary Aide can work in a variety of settings including hospitals, long term care or group home settings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists cooks with meal preparations and serving to patients/residents
Helps prepare, wrap, portion, and refrigerate meals
Pours drinks and sets up condiments for patients/residents
Sets up and delivers meal trays
Clears trays when meal time is over per established protocols
Uses food preparation equipment properly, cleaning and storing as required per facility protocol
Helps stocks supply shelves and check in deliveries
Reports any kitchen area concerns to Dietary Manager
Assists patients in selecting daily menu choices
Ensures all patient menu selections are completed
Records details of the patient’s meal plan and food preferences
Checks the patient’s acceptance of meals and intake of food and reports problems to the dietician or diet supervisor if applicable
Additional duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
High School Certificate (or equivalent)
Dietary Practices or Home Economics Certificate (or equivalent) preferred
Good communication skills
One year experience as a Dietary Aide or cook preferred
Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
Participation and completion of Amergis’ Competency program when applicable
Current CPR if applicable
TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required
Computer proficiency required
Must be at least 18 years of age
