Summary Purpose for the Position:
Provide guidance to low- to moderate-income families on financial behaviors, building assets, and becoming financially stable.Provide individualized financial coaching for participants to help them reach their target goals including credit score; budgeting; saving; utilization of quality financial services and asset creation and development.
Requirements (Education, Experience, Certification, Knowledge, Skill):
Must possess a Bachelors Degree in related field or equivalent experience.
Must have at least 5 years experience in financial coaching, banking or related field.
Proficiency in technical and interpersonal skills necessary for working with families on personal financial matters.
Ability to plan and lead workshops and classes.
NCHEC certification in Financial Capability is required within 18 months of hire.
Must also pass the test for HUD Housing Counseling Certification.
Must be trained and use required client data management system.
Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
Strong customer service skills required.
Position Responsibilities:
Provide all the basic material and relate it to the householders particular situation.
Assist participant with goal setting, budgeting, and credit building/repair, savings and asset creation.
Identify and refer participants to other resources and services needed to achieve their financial goals.
Review regulations, interpret program information and produce demographic and narrative reports.
Interpret financial information for the participant.
Ensure confidentiality of information pertaining to personal finances.
Create a written action plan for the participant.
Prepare all required reports for funding sources as directed by Director.
Collect and verify all required data from participants throughout the program.
This position will report to Director and will be responsible for daily decisions regarding their own work and client related interactions.
This position has flexibility within the scope of the job, any significant changes must be discussed with Director.
Position follows prescribed steps, but must make alterations depending upon situations.
Determine which steps/methods/procedures among several prescribed options are required to fulfill the identified program objectives.
Develop formal training materials for financial education classes and present them to program participants.
This position is responsible for all relevant program compliance within the housing counseling program
Represent PathStone at meetings, conferences and other relevant forums concerned with issues affecting the operation of housing programs.
Working Conditions/Environment:
Requires flexible hours to meet the needs of participants, including evenings and weekend availability.
This position requires a minimal amount of travel.
Must receive NCHEC Certification by attending 2-3 NeighborWorks America Training Institutes.
Transportation Requirement:
Position requires automobile, drivers license and insurance.
