Lab Manager

The Lab Manager supervises lab technicians and ensures they are qualified and equipped to complete their assignments with the highest quality. This position reports to SeaLandAires President.

 

Essential Functions

Job duties include, but are not necessarily limited to the following:

– Supervise technicians, including hiring, training, conducting regular reviews, conflict resolution, evaluating technical skills and career skills development, upgrading skillsets for technicians, approving technician timesheets and PTO requests, and monitoring technician compliance of SOPs, STPs, and PPs.
– Prioritize work orders and assignments according to build schedules and assign them to technicians.
– Develop and implement training plans for technicians on lab processes and continued education.
– Monitor, report, and provide continuous improvement plans for the effectiveness of assembly, inspection, and testing processes.
– Responsible for the acquisition of lab tools and equipment.
– Establish and maintain best practices for organizing, operating, calibrating, and maintaining lab equipment and limited shelf-life materials.
– Participate in project kickoff meetings to implement any new processes, equipment, or tools needed for the job and to ensure technicians are meeting build schedule expectations.
– Communicate with Project Managers/Project Engineers to coordinate and maintain efficiency in scheduling work orders.
– Work with administrative staff to maintain work order records in a timely manner.
– Coordinate with the Quality Assurance (QA) team to ensure all aspects of the QA program are adhered to and that proper equipment, supplies, and processes are in compliance with QA.
– Coordinate with inventory control during the shipping process.
– Work closely with the Engineering Department to understand and implement future lab requirements involving new equipment, upgrades, and possible expansions.
– Work with engineers to maximize the efficiency of the design, build, and testing processes.

SeaLandAire provides engineering services for data collection applications in difficult environments. Our work focuses on designing the sensor system, delivering the sensor package to the environment, and getting the data out. The job is fast paced and requires working with top engineers, customers, and support staff.
